lol I love this post. So funny. Every part of it is ....

Anyway, I think the idea of pay with MC to unlock and Cbills to change is good. Unlock per chassis only or perhaps even per mech if they want to tighten the screws.

For me, paint must be a set of our mech... we can have color by clan.

You don't want pay for custon your ammo too ?

If i must pay with real money, it's for acces at a true online game, with a map of univers, play with a clan, buid base, defend the base, control ressources and planetes... Get a True aim...
For this i can pay!

It's for finish in death match or capture flag, i return on battlefield.

Now if devs create a special mech, i can pay 2-3 euro for buy the model.. like league of legend for a special skin. Because their is a work 3d...

If it's for paint my mech in blue or yellow, i can change color panel in nvidia config. that the same for me!

Paladin, you mean color by clan, like JADE GREEN for Clan Jade Falcon, red-orange for Clan Wolf? ice blue for Ghost bear and so on?

I'd buy them if, when I bought the pattern upon completing it's design, it were added as an item that I could swap out at any time. This way seems like it will be expensive, and instead of making more money, will actually make people buy one skin, and only use that one.

Simplest solution, pay CB for paint-jobs, but you have to use MC to buy the paint/pattern.

create a custom paint/color with custom camouflage like mechwarrior 4... and choose an personnal icon or icon of the clan.

I think I'll be skipping out on paint jobs if I can't revert to previously paid for ones for anything other than a token cbill charge. :\
That doesn't necessarily mean this is the wrong model to use, depends on how many others feel that way.

Not only would i pay for it.. i will pay for it no matter how they roll it out. There is no way to put a price on customization for me. Ofc i like to pay as little as i can but the current price/implementation is not a roadblock on my amazing race to a awesome mech.

Well most of reality actually do that, like your house if you get one... no free repaint there ... Same with your car... and your haircut... and those classy jeans you bought back in ´98 but now are done for.. no free replacement of them.

And as i said have said before.. If hero mechs and this is the price to keep them away from irritating stuff such as rental mechs and MC ammo it is ok by me.

My house needs paint to keep from rotting, my car needs paint to keep from rusting. I didn't pay extra for really wild colours on either. So you're saying they can put my mech back together from spare parts for 50k cbills but have no idea how to fix the paintjob?

It's a vanity item, if it's temp for actual cash, I'm not buying. Perm for one mech I'll buy one, perm for every variant of a mech, I'll probably buy 3 or 4.

From day 1 I have had concerns about how they were going to monetize this game. I just don't see there being enough content they can create and sell the players to make a consistent revenue stream. The only option I see PGI has for creating steady revenue would be having everything, mechs, weapons, upgrades, skins, EVERYTHING be on a lease system. You want that shiny new Cataphract in your garage? You can rent it for 7 days for 1,000,000 c-bills or 500 MC. Now that you got your shiny new CTF those AC5's your gonna equip it with are only available for a 7 day lease for 10,000 CB or 75 MC. Oh and the bay your gonna park it in needs to be leased also.

This **** goes down in Blacklight....and it's one of the bigger reasons why I left the game for good. This sounds a little ridiculous for them to try, but if it happens, as much as I love BT, and MW games...MWO will earn itself a place on the ignore list.

Then Don't buy the paint Mustrum. I see the thinking of both sides and I understand them both. PGI NEEDS to make money and we don't want to SPEND money. I like my team mates idea (Rooster) cause it is a good middle ground. I can have my paint and change it too. But only so many times, then I gotta buy some more. It's part of the emergence. I have to pay for everything else (using in game cash) But since this isn't PtW Paint is the best way to make a buck.

Really? A $1-$3 micro transaction for pizzazz is undesirable? I buy paint to make My minis pretty. But when I see a cooler scheme I have to repaint my Mini. I also have to buy more paint. That is time and effort I have to pay. Click a button and boom you are a new shiny Mech. I just don't understand how "cheap" you guys sound.

To all you people who like to keep saying PGI needs to make money, thats what the chart in the first post is for. It actually shows PGI would likely make more than 5 times as much money overall if they gave players a better value for what they are spending. (more sales = more money)

You can charge 100$ for a pack of gum, but you're not going to make more money than someone selling it for 1$ because no one wants to buy your overpriced gum. (exaggerated for effect)

The idea why people also pay to repaint houses, cars or you have to buy more paint for your minis, is that there is labor involved. A physically time consuming task. There is no labor involved in applying the skin to the mech. There is labor in its initial creation, but it does not have to be recreated for each of the possibly thousands or millions of applications, unlike if you were to repaint every MWO player's minis they owned. Also there is the idea that technically we don't even own our in-game items or accounts, as I'm sure like with most online games, you can't really sell your account in the same way you could paint and re-sell your minis.

Edit: Technically this is besides the point anyways, considering the idea is that, first and foremost, this is financially beneficial for PGI to change.

Although granted I feel like the added enjoyment factor with a change brought and the negative feelings many players like myself associate with this type of decision the way it currently stands (feels scummy) are worth taking into account to because they can have impacts on the longevity and player base of the game which is hard to calculate so simply.

Pretty much if My skins were permanent and even if they were only locked to that one mech, I'd buy way more than the current system.

As it stands...

PC gamer + PC gamer Black / Red / GREY it is lol

I must say, I didn't really see any customization option yet that I really liked in the first place. :P

How can I get the Closed Beta skin back that was used for the Atlas?

until the cost is considerably reduced and the paint/camo you buy, is PERMANENT to the account and not lost when you change to a new style, I am opposed to the current iteration as it is totally ludicrous.

My take on camo skins: I would pay for designing and using an exclusive look, reserving a pattern that I find attractive for my use alone on any mech. That is, a design that is transferable from mech to mech and reserved to my use -- something along the lines of MC cost to design and reserve it, and c-bill costs to transfer.

Particularly if it could be a nice and visible external banner identifying house and unit...

The way this game is now, I can't see it lasting more than 6 months save your money for mw5 when it comes out in another 20 years after this fiasco is forgotten.

There is not enough content to pay more than bargin bin price for this game.

I am not spending a single cbills on a system like this at all. A skin/camo/color should be permanently available once unlocked and should be available to be painted to any mech I have. With the current system I'll never even paint a single mech of the 10 I have, I feel milked. With another system, I would have probably already personalized and happily spent my MCs because it was worth, as it is now it isn't and I hope many others aren't buying anything, so that PGI doesn't take the money that people would like to throw at them if things were done fairly.

we agree you know. I think its a bad system, and prices are way way too high, and need CBILL only costs if they are RENTED only, as they are now rent only.

I'd pay for permanent skins, or atleast give me about 10 slots that I can save paint jobs/designs in and apply them to any applicable mechs.

On the other hand if they want paintjobs to be temporary then make them $1 for a full customised design. I would pay that. Any more expensive and I need to be able to save it and switch back and forth.

The current choice is clearly just suits being greedy, who have no idea what gamers want in a f2p title.

Honestly the very DAY they make camo skins and colors permanent unlocks I will start buying them. Until then I'll be keeping my MC for stuff I get to keep.

Yeah I think it is pretty clear that people want to unlock skins/colors, not rent them. I won't put any MC toward a one time mech change. It's not because I plan on changing the skin on a specific mech over and over, it's because I don't want to pay over an over for the same thing (on different mechs). It's the reason I don't buy skins in World of Tanks, but I do in Planetside 2. PS2 skins are spendy at $500 each, but once you unlock it you can put it on all your classes and loadouts at will.

I will spend money on skins and colors only when they are unlocked not one time applications.
