I was worried for a moment when the gausscat popularity was eroded by the increase in viability of the twentypult.

Kidding aside, that's always been my one and only problem with 'matchmaking' and premades...the cheese lance.

In my opinion, it isn't the weapon systems that need nerfed, it's the chassis. K2 need the ballistic hardpoints moved to the CT, and the A1 just really doesn't have a place in the game*.
*The stock chassis has 2 LRM15s and that's it- I get why PGI gave it six missile hardpoints, but I don't think they really thought through the consequences.

Weeks of running LRM and SSRM catapults, and my k/d is not 5000/0.

That's why I said it really isn't necessary in the game. There are 3 other variants already and six missile slots are, lets be honest here, easy to exploit.
Now that I've been thinking about it a bit, I think I have an idea. Drop it to four missile hardpoints, give it two ams slots, and maybe a head laser for a backup weapon. The A1 would then have a solid role as LRM support and ams coverage for a defensive or advancing group.

sure, if the reason you're being pitted against a 4 streakcat lance is because your team is taking 4 cataphracts, then if you let them close in the streakcats will win. stop trying to out-cheese the streakcats with quad ac2/5 phracts

I've played a streakcat before, I stopped because it felt cheap and dirty and I actually felt bad pwning people in it. And pwn I did, I could easily get 4+ kills per match while pugging and I freely admit that I'm not that good. It's a crutch for bad players and a major exploit for good ones. I'm sure you're on of the good players and not one of the ones with delusions of leetness.
Cataphract spam is something that will pass once the newness wears off. I pilot a Dragon these days, so yes I guess I'm matching up versus a catapult, but suggesting that people go to different weight classes to avoid cats is kind of admitting that there is a problem.
As for the K2 thing, we'll have to just agree to disagree on that. At the risk of derailing the thread, the Cataphract now fills the role of heavy ballistic boat so the K2's ridiculous filling of that role could definitely be retired now.

If you can't kill a A1 you are have a problem, and it isnt the A1 being OP. 1v1 most same weight or heavier (and some lighter) mechs should quite easily beat it. Especially if it goes for a balanced loadout reducing its DPS at any given range (if you hover at 200m then really ...)

Thats what you get for trying to brawl with a streakcat. Its weakness is its range and you simply got outplayed. why would you (in a light) engage a streakcat? Its like a streakcat walking up to an atlas or cataphract and engaging it head-on (hint: they lose badly). The only lights who die to streakcats are the ones who either dont pay attention to their surroundings or havent learnt lagshield doesnt protect from streaks.

I don't think I'll attempt this in the future unless I have another favourable terrain match up.

He didn't know how to use jump jets appropriately then.

This particular thread is about cheesecats running in groups, because that is a thing that is happening, and not about 1 on 1 duels. My dragon goes 100kph, I'm one of the few people in a good position to deal with them, and I still see it as a problem. I would reiterate that I have played one and I know how cheesy it is,so you aren't going to convince me that your kills actually come from skill. I know the truth because I have been there
Since this thread is getting a bit hostile (as these things tend to do,) I thought I'd try to lighten the mood a bit with something I thought was funny. There was a time in closed beta when streaks homed in on the lowest part of the Atlas' center torso, so you were basically shooting it in the crotch/******** until it died. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I have not seen too many of the 4AC2 or 4AC5 Phracts today, I think people are finding them less useful with the low speed and are adjusting their builds.

Problem is that usually they tend to sneak up on you while you are busy fighting something else
