Either way, i never think "good fight fellow mechwarrior", which i frequently do after an encounter with a real mech, regardless of the outcome.
Gausscats annoy me more however, they are so ridiculous, canonically, and so terribly common. And yeah, if i see one, I always attack it first.
Furthermore I think collisions must be back in the game.

I've played a streakcat before, I stopped because it felt cheap and dirty and I actually felt bad pwning people in it. And pwn I did, I could easily get 4+ kills per match while pugging and I freely admit that I'm not that good. It's a crutch for bad players and a major exploit for good ones. I'm sure you're on of the good players and not one of the ones with delusions of leetness.
Cataphract spam is something that will pass once the newness wears off. I pilot a Dragon these days, so yes I guess I'm matching up versus a catapult, but suggesting that people go to different weight classes to avoid cats is kind of admitting that there is a problem.
As for the K2 thing, we'll have to just agree to disagree on that. At the risk of derailing the thread, the Cataphract now fills the role of heavy ballistic boat so the K2's ridiculous filling of that role could definitely be retired now.
The issue with moving the Ballistics on the K2 to the CT is that you will only be able to use 2 different weapons in that slot (MG or AC2). It is too limiting which is why I think PGI put the hardpoints in the right and left torsos.

Am I saying streaks aren't currently unbalanced? Yeah, pretty much. Catapult A-1? Far from OP. Completely ammo dependant, super vulnerable weapon hardpoints. Risk vs reward...a streak cat seems like a lot of risk just so a lazy person can play one handed.
See you on the field.

I use AC2s in my K2 and always do more damage with it than when I was using the dual gauss. The DakkaPult is quite nice.

Streakcat problem > Gausscat problem.
I'm not even sure if Gausscats are a problem anymore, considering I see them much less often, about one every other game. As for streakcats, I'm seeing them almost every game, usually two or three of them. I actually feel surprised when I see A-1s not carrying 6 streaks.
I'm not sure if it's the catapult chassis, the streaks, the explosions in your face, or the jump jets, but I'd much rather be against a lance of gausscats than streakcats. Heck, gausscats die versus just 3 SSRMs since they can't aim properly when their screen is exploding.

so what would be an acceptable build for these mechs if LRMS, SRMs ,and ssrms are too cheesy?
"oh, you've got a mech that can ONLY have those things? too bad, you cant use it or i'll cry on the forums!"
"you cant use any weapon i dont like! Devs need to nerf them!"
gtfover yourself.

But you've got to admit. Something is wrong when 6 SSRM A-1 builds are so popular.
But in any case, the devs do recognize there's a problem somewhere, so this shouldn't last for very long.

It really isn't. It is about the realization that these mechs require no skill at all, not about nerfing them.
Furthermore I think collisions must be back in the game.

Either that or there was a few of them on.
Funniest one was me walking towards the cave on forest getting a little too far from allies, getting near the rock arch thing and out comes 1 streakpault, I thought, no worries, I got this guy easy.........then he runs back around the corner after I get a few good shots in, and 3 more pop out. Cue benny hill music...............& then the whole team basically fell apart after that.
Not that I have a problem with it, 4 mechs stacked with anything useful will pretty much churn thru an un-organized pub team with ease.
IE 4 grouped atlas's / cataphracts / insert almost any mech here have just the same effect a group of 4 streakpaults do to pub teams imo.
I will admit that 6 ssrm's on each of the 4 catapaults in a group can make them feel like "cheesy" weapons against pub teams with no group on their side, as once they come through they can pick you off 1 by 1, but thems the breaks unless pgi want to change it.
They wouldn't be so much of a problem in pre-made 8v8 matches, or if there was some inbuilt-in-game voip system (integrated into the game, not outside of it) pubs / lone wolves would fair a little better, but probably still get destroyed by them.
So yea, learn to deal with it, they can be beaten....just not alone...

i agree 100% about collisions, but why mention those mechs at all if it's not about nerfing them? It's completly about nerfing them. And the "no-skill" thing is kind of bullships. That's trying to rationalize the whole "dont play things i dont like!" mentality. They definately do require skill to at least keep alive, if not to aim. Cats arent exactly the toughest and those big ears they've got are fairly easy to blow off, even while being rocked by streaks. They're short range so if you stay back they're no trouble and if you can aim, their cockpits are pretty easy to hit as well.

I'm fairly sure at one point that people continued to take damage after death, for instance if you got headshot, and your corpse was shot, it still damaged your other components.
I don't know if this was fixed yet, but I always unload into a any dead streakboats I see, and given the chance, I much prefer to de-ear, then leg, then strip thier torsos before killing them, just to ramp the repair bill up as much as possible.
K2s, Cataphracts with AC2s, not at all, I just have an unnatural loathing for streakboats..

yes it does
sure, if the reason you're being pitted against a 4 streakcat lance is because your team is taking 4 cataphracts, then if you let them close in the streakcats will win. stop trying to out-cheese the streakcats with quad ac2/5 phracts
100% wrong? DPS on a streakcat is terrible. An atlas will out dps a cataphract in a standoff also
Easy balance for player using keyboard aim and NES controllers would be to change missile lock to LOS only. Perfectly balanced
