The wait screen is pretty boring.

I think that it would be a good opportunity for the art staff to flex their creative muscle if you allowed them to add dynamic elements to each map that were visible during the player join and count down times.

Like on one map you could have that entire sequence be a hot insertion from a drop ship like the launch trailer. IE as it is searching for players you see the pilot flipping switches in the cockpit turning stuff on, and the drop bay doors opening slowly. Then as the 10 second count begins the players Mech is dropped and you can see it falling through the atmosphere, finally landing with a hard "Thud" on the map as the counter reaches 0.

Other things could be done as well, such as having a dynamic battle unfold in front of the players eyes with artillery strikes and aerospace fighters streaking across the sky, Only to abate as the battlemechs arrive on the scene.

One idea would be to have infantry firing on each other in a pitched battle in River city, and then as the timer counts down and the battlemechs arrive they scurry into the safety of the buildings.

Or in Forest Colony you could have the players mech slowly walking to the start zone through the deep waters, finally arriving as the counter reaches 0.

I would love to have a more cinematic feel to the whole MWO experience. Op gave a few good ideas.

That would all be cool, but I'd be happy if they'd just list the player's mech/variant next to his name and let me fiddle around with my fire groups.
