It would be awesome if you could shield your head or torso before a missile swarm pounded you senseless... or any attack.. as long as you had time to bring it up to cover your head (and blind you mostly) or to cover your chest.

It's called torso twisting. It improves your survivability immensely.

Mech arms aren't really all that nimble. So I don't see that happening. Or did you mean sth like a forcefield? Than hell no, please don't do that. We got enough recovering health shooters out there.
