Well just a few thought on some balancing ideas I've been bouncing around.

AC/2's - I've used them, they are all kinds of fun but let's face it they are a little out of place when compared to the autocannon progression. The fact that the AC/2 damage potential is only outdone by the UAC5 and the AC/20 in the direct fire department is a little over the top. So my suggestion is to drop the cooldwon to .75 seconds. This would give it around the same damage potential as a large pulse laser and still keep it in it's proper place just below the AC/5.

UAC/5's - Trying to nerf them by increasing jam time was probably the wrong way to go. I would suggest changing their base cooldown time to that of the regular AC/5 like it should be. This would reduce it's unreal damage potential to a more reasonable number. Change the jamming percentage back to what it was or maybe even lower but either allow it to increase with every double shot or extend the unjam cycle time by a couple seconds.

PPC's & ER PPC's - Either remove the PPC minimum range and leave the rest alone or decrease the ER PPC's heat to 11. I hate to suggest bringing it that low but it does put it a little more inline with the other ER weapon which is the ER Large Laser. The PPC's should have a higher velocity as well.

Gauss - Increase heat to around 5. Leave the damage it can take alone and work the heat component. Decrease it's ammunition to 8 or 9 per tonne. This would still allow mechs using single gauss to be effective however putting that second one on might take an extra few tonnes for heatsinks and ammo.

Heat Sinks - This is a little out of the box and I have no idea if it would work or not but what about allowing the double heatsinks to utilize dynamic slot allocation. Meaning instead of them having to take up 3 slots in one specific location they could spread the locations out over a few areas like the other upgrades. Thinking over the builds I've made this would probably only get me another 2-3 heat sinks out of the deal but it might be enough to help handle some of the higher heat weapons. I don't know how this would affect laser boats and such however as I've never used one.

Anyhow food for thought, discuss.
