As a counter argument, Microsoft also made the built into Windows Add/Remove programs, and if it does not actually know every nook and cranny to remove everything while uninstalling... why would another MS product? Honestly it is more of a rhetorical question, MS does strange things that do not necessarily make any sense, but I can believe they would make a secondary more advanced and not built-in uninstall app that is better than the one they ship with Windows.
I do have to say, the MS Fix It you linked runs a lot faster than Revo Uninstaller ever has for me, whether that means it is better, or just less thorough I am not sure.

The MS Fix It App was designed and built after Win7 was completed and shipped. The new add/remove programs is in Win8 And will be included with Win7 SP2 when it's released. Also the MS Fix it App is constantly changing which is why it's always different when you download it. :)

The fixed worked wonders on my laptop. Nvidia 330 video, Ivy bridge I7Quad core. Went from 5-15 frames to 15-30 frames. My desktop refused to play nice with the Ati Tray Tool - Phenom II x6 running at 4 ghz with a AMD 6970 video card.

I wonder though: given that the problem is failure to utilize multiple cpu cores, could we simply use taskmanager to set the cpu affinity to use more cores? I am not at home and cannot test this right now.

first my specs,
amdfx 8350 4ghz
8gigs ddr3 1600
sapphire 6950 2gb

i tried tray tools and right away after installing i had screen flickering and tearing issues, like when ur video card is fried.
i still tried your core tweak and no framerate increase happens,

im still all over the place from 25-90 fps depending on what im looking at.
thanks for trying ;)

my game is running very hight settings at 1600x1200. i refuse to play the game with lower settings, my rig should hold its own with this game, just like another game ;)

i just read under ur main post this wont wok with fx , shame really.
i went from a 8120 to a 8350 because reviewers stated they fixed many issues with there cps. i guess issues still remain.
also ur instructions were very easy to follow, i am not a noobie when it comes to tweaking a pc ;)

@Cel: You require More Ram because only having 4GB of ram isn't enough anymore especially for a 6Core CPU. So you should get up to 8GB or Better 12GB(2GB per Core). ;)

funny i went from 4gb to 8 gb and noticed no performance increase.
only increase i got was going from a 8120 to a 8350.
from 20-70fps to 35-70 fps

but the last patch screwed my fps again.

The FX chips are Notorious for running games poorly which is why I will be switching here soon to an i7.
Google any game and add the "AMD FX Series" and you will see that every current game doesn't run well with the FX chips...

Everyone who's tried it on a 64 bit system has had the same problems. It's probably not terribly safe to be trying....

And this is why I wrote "USE AT YOUR OWN RISK" in the 1st post for that program. I'm still looking for an alternative program to change it but I have yet to find one...

Don't know if this will help anybody else, but I disabled 'Override the scaling mode set by games and programs' tickbox (found in Adjust Desktop Size and Postion) and set 'perform Scaling on:' to Display This has improved my FPS substantialy. Its still lower than I would expect from my rig, but game is now playable again.

Having more ram does help buy the FX series was not that great the Phenom 2 X4 980 black out performs the FX series in 90% of all games tested If I could have got one before AMD stopped shipping them I would have stayed with AMD for a bit longer. Im with Intel now after being AMD fan for 18 years. The Phenom 2 CPU's are the only ones giving full game performance

Heck my AMD Phenom™ II X4 965 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.4GHz out performs the FX series! :(

Edit: Oh and it's the best and still selling CPU AMD has made ever!

It sad really, however looks like my 8350 is faster for games, not by much
I went amd due to budget, intel i5 wast my first choice. Here is some benchmarks
http://www.anandtech...duct/697?vs=102
I also seen crysis2 benchmarks prefirm better on the 8350 still the 965 is the best bang for the buck!

Anyways please let us know id u find a simalar program for 64bits os,
I have yet to find one, i like to use all my cores right now for mwo only one is used.. Seams silly, note to self go intel next build.

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.36 GHz
2GB RAM
AMD Sapphire HD3850

They look pretty low, but they run Crisis 2 on Max Settings with higher frames than this! It ran DECENT back in closed beta, averaging 20 frames. Now I'm lucky to break 10....

ATI Tray didn't work for me, but I've got an FX series CPU and I'm running 64 bit Win 7, so it's not like that was unexpected.

Here's my system:
AMD FX-6100 6 core, 3.3 GHz
8G DDR3 RAM
ASUS Radeon HD 7870

I'll copy and paste what I said in another thread: it's not the king, and I know gamers have an issue with the FX series CPUs, but it plays really well in every other situation I've tested it in. For example: all setting on "high" in Batman: Arkham City gets me a pretty steady 60FPS (with an occasional drop) and all settings on "ultra" in Skyrim nets me at least 40 FPS. MWO, though: everything at medium, AA and Vsync off, and I get 30 frames if I'm lucky to start, and between 10-15 frames as soon as the action begins. I run MSI Afterburner and when observing, the GPU never gets above 30% usage in these situations, so the obvious bottleneck is the CPU.

I've tried everything to get this game to perform the way that other games do on my system: updated the driver to bleeding-edge beta, tweaked settings in Catalyst Control center, tried setting process priority and affinity, tried overclocking the CPU modestly, deleted shaders cache, even went as far as uninstalling and reinstalling. No dice. Bearing in mind that I was once upon a time getting 30+ frames with everything at "very high", this is understandably frustrating.

Sorry for the crosspost but this is probably the better thread to have this discussion in.

Your CPU is most likely bottle necking your system

His whole Motherboard, CPU and Ram is his bottle neck as he is under using that video-card which is most likely on PCI-E v1-1.5!.. And he's most likely using DDR2 memory.

Can we get some kind of official word from PGI on this? Two patches ago, you broke something, and now there's ten pages of people that are desperately trying to play, and you've been very quiet about it. And I don't want a generic "optimization is ongoing" response. These people could play perfectly well before the patch, something broke it!

On my desktop PC, the game is unaffected. On my laptop, it's very close to unplayable since two patches ago. I have the luxury of owning two PCs, but most don't, please let us know what's going on!

Did not really do anything for me. Maybe a frame or two faster but I must stress that maybe.

OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home 64bit

System RAM: 8gigs DDR2 PC5400

Mother Board: Asus M4A785-M

CPU: AMD Athalon 3.0ghz
Physical CPUs: 1
CPU Cores: 2

Video Card: Radeon HD 5850
VRAM: 1GB DDR5

Solid State Drive: OCZ Agility 4 258gb
Free Drive Space: 180GB
Total Drive Space: 250GB

Windows Experience Index Rating: 6.1

Frame Rate before ATI Tray Tools was about 12, now about 14.

Been through this machine, all new mobo drivers, all Catalyst options set to performance, power configuration set to performance, game options set to lowest, V-Synch turned off, not playing in windowed mode, and monitor set to the lowest possible resolution. Gonna streamline Windows 7 next and turn off all unnecessary background programs and Windows options next.

I'm not gonna turn off the firewall or virus protection.

Yes I know my CPU, Mobo and RAM are all a giant bottle neck but do we all have to have a Windows Experience Index of 7.4 to enjoy this game?

Yup, even after optimizing Windows 7, the average frame rate was right around 14 with the lowest I saw at 8, (this was out of combat). Several major lags when trying to hit a fast target at close range suggests much lower FPS in action. Possibly as low as 3-4FPS.
