Certain mechs which are more traditionally used as fire-support mechs are being used to great effect for brawling. I'm also aware Mechs will have their quirks be more emphasized in the future. A cause could be chassis movement performance
My idea is that for traditionally Fire Support chassis, they will have lower turn-rate and lateral torso-twist speed, but have the advantage of zooming better than the Mechs more intended for other tasks. They will be able to brawl still, but will slightly underperform as a result. Maybe in addition a few other positive quirks that allows it to do even better as a Fire-Support Mech.
(Consequently, Mechs traditionally configured for brawling could have lower zoom magnification but shines in other aspects instead.)
Modules may play an additional part such that it may override some of the downsides (E.G. Advanced Zoom on a Mech with poorer zoom) or amplify its strength (E.G. Advanced Zoom having greater benefits than when used on other chassis).
I hope this doesn't come off as a nerf thread or something, but just thought I would put it here anyway.

A mech that is good at long range will be complained about by mechs that are good at short range and they will nerf. Then the short range will get complained about and get nerfed. They only seem to be balancing with dps and homoginizing the mechs, so they certainly won't do this.
They talk about roles and tactics but are moving towards eveyone using the same weapon and running at each other.

Well, here's to hoping they know what they are doing...
