Saw David using a quad AC/5 - that puts out some serious pain. Mostly used it in the 2nd line against pushing brawlers.

How much ammo can you put on that? I tried that model and ended up with 90 tons of ammo, but dang if it didn't Crush already hurt mechs.

The XL build I have runs 240 rounds.. I've not bought/built it yet, though.. not sure I want an XL in a cataphract, but as long as I'm not front line brawling, it may be fine..

Took me a while to figure out this CTF-4X also.

Because i'm so slow I get on the tail of an Atlas or a Stalker and act as it's personal security guard.

I like guarding Stalkers more than the Atli becuse most Stalkers tend to stay at, and fire from ranges that are safer for this slow mech build.

I have finally settled in with my CAT, and it runs well. Load out as follows.

( 1 ) LRM5 to harrass,
( 1 )ERLL to sting for distance,
( 1 ) Gauss Rifle to smack around the Heavies and Assaults from distance, and when they close in to take me out, I prattle the hell out them with....
( 1 ) Machine gun to act as tracer rounds, all the while, it's fire control is linked to my last heavy hitter,
( 1 ) LB/X 10 shotgun for close in fighting. Boom... suprise!

Ammo, one ton LRM, two ton Guass, three ton LBX/10. Not much ammo.. but I almost never run out.

1 Gauss + 1 LB/X10 + 1 ERLL = 34 damage... rinse, repeat...

When I heat up, I just single fire either the LB/x10/machinegun combo nonstop, or look to move out of range. Running double heat sinks I tend cool quickly.

FYI, I am running a XL210 engine for weight savings. Am I more squishy?

Yes.

But the load out allows me to stay at range, guarding those Stalkers, all the while pounding away with the long distance weapons I have equiped.... just wating and hoping those Hunchbacks, Dragons, or Centurions close range so I can take their arms off... Arms pop off very quickly with accurate fire with this build. Something about the ballistics that blow off arms. Fun to pop a Hunchback at 250meters with the trio of a Gauss round, followed by a ERLL crack, then a 10 pellet burst.

Also found that the Machine Gun/LBX/10 combo scares off those pesky lights once they are hit with one or two rounds of LBX10...and then I pour a ERLL into their backs as the run away. I SUCK at hittig lights with Gauss rounds... I just quit trying...

I am starting to really like the CTF-4X.. I did hate it at first not knowing how to play it.

Anyone put up any quad AC/2 builds on youtube? Would love to see your guys versions of our quad AC5/AC2/etc builds. (Banky - I'll let KyleL know you use his build, he'll be thrilled Posted Image)

I do, in fact, have my own quad AC-5 with gameplay on youtube. I have owned my Cataphract 4x since the Cataphracts first came out. Since it was the only one I owned for months I have become semi-good with it.

It works best as ranged support more than a brawler, although when I first got it I used it was my kill an Atlas from 4 meters away within 6 to 12 seconds. Unfortunately I killed myself more than I killed the Atlai, so I was quick to drop the build back when UAC-5's had 2 to 3 second auto unjam timers and the heat issues of the twin UAC-5 twin AC-2 build. Typically an Atlas died in 6 seconds. Or I committed suicide in about 8 seconds if I didn't let go of the trigger. If I did, the Atlas died in no more than 12 seconds.

I have never run a quad AC-2 build due to its severely under-powered and over-heated nature. Though I feel challenged to try it.

I shall now begin with ze youtube spammery!

Feb 10th: 8-man versus 8-man. Combat support. Note: This was a very strategic battle, first death 4:11 in. All out warfare by 5:28.

Posted Feb 11th but older than the one above. Two Cataphract 4x's working in tandem.

----Surprisingly that seems to be all I have up for the 4* AC-5 builds. I remember having more.

Pre Feb 5th patch; "Starcraft" Cataphract 4x (Twin UAC-5, AC-2 build)

Pre Feb 5th Patch: Slow 4x saves the day again. XL 170 engine.

Pre Feb 5th Patch: Slow 4x saves the day after spending most of the match indiscriminately shooting team and enemy alike. XL 170 engine.

And 2012: 8 man premade versus premade. Cataphract 4x with Twin UAC-5, AC-5, and machine gun.

Sadly I am reminded by that last video that I was not the first fool to try and turn the Cataphract 2x into a missile boat. Though that was some crazy giggles too.
