What is a good number to put in the left, right and center for rear torso armor? Since you have to take from the front armor (of which I have max at the moment), would taking fifteen off the front of each and placing on the rear be enough or do you need more?

I generally keep 16 to 24 in each of my rear torso slots.

It would help to know what mech you are asking about if you mean 15 points. I tend to go with about 20% on rear, unless I am running a light/fast medium planning on running back and forth through things, in which case I will put a little more on the back.

I run criminally low amounts on most of my mechs, because if you're showing your rear to the enemy, you're doing it wrong, anyway.

Wow...you like the element of risk, I guess. No back armor at all currently?

Think of it this way, a 4xML Jenner gets behind you and alphas. That's 20 points of damage. Surely you'd want to survive at least one alpha and have a chance to evade or strike back.

Most games I don't have an issue having no armor in the rear. But every now and then I have that game where I get a Jenner or two after me and I can't always stay facing them. As much as I like having full front armor, I just may have to take 15-20 from each front and place on the back for those games where I get light mechs after me.

It really depends on your mech design and how you play it. Fast skirmishers can control the battlefield positioning pretty well, so they can keep their backs off-limits most times and have a safer time skimping on the back. Slow heavies/assaults don't have that luxury; there is really no way to keep faster mechs from seeing your back in a CTF-4X or an Atlas unless you just back up to a wall and stop, thus a tougher backside might be beneficial.

We should all put 1 Armour on heads just for laughs.
