- Disable C-Bill rewards for Trial Mechs that self-destruct. It won't fix suicide-by-enemy-fire, but it will fix those SOB's that blow themselves up 5 seconds after the round starts. No financial incentive, no worries about purposeful overheating.
- Remove the repair bill (and any C-Bill reward) for people who exit the game (eg. Crash-To-Desktop) before gameplay begins. Handing players repair bills because the game is a buggy beta is just plain wrong. Merely having your mech locked away for several minutes while the match is being played should be enough to dissuade people from purposefully exiting the game when they see a map they don't like.

Two suggestions. They've been commented on before. They need to keep being suggested so PGI will get the hint.

Better to have % time in match be a multiplier of rewards.
Also it is really hard to distinguish between crash to desktop and users quitting on their own.

Mechanically, that has issues.
Example : You play honestly, but die early. Are you expected to sit through the rest of the match? So the only way to receive the payments that you have earned to that point are to sit through everyone else, no matter how long it takes? Yeah, because that won't make the Trial grind that much worse.... (that was sarcasm, btw)

I don't know for a fact that the client sends a disconnect message to the server when a player chooses to leave the map, but you would expect it to do so. Of course, that doesn't cover someone using the Task Manager or command prompt to kill the MWO process.
Either way, it doesn't really matter.
You (that is to say, PGI) simply recodes it so that players that are disconnected before a match begins do not have to pay for repairs, do not gain C-Bills, but do have to wait until after the match is over to have their mech return to the mechbay. That seems like a pretty balanced approach -- and most importantly, it isn't causing beta players to lose C-Bills on buggy beta code. Trust me, after that happens a few times, it starts to feel like someone is rubbing sand in your .... well, someplace sensitive.
