The kill ratios meaning is near to nothing. A Gauss Cat will have more kills then a commando, even if the com is super-elite.
I'm a alway PUGing light pilot and I have crashs and second-long lags and DCs... if you take that out I'm at most at a rate of 0,5:1; propably only 0,3. That does not mean I'm a bad pilot - I can say I'm a good one - but in lights its easy to die. If you run into a triple of atlases beyond a corner on your scouting run for example. (Well, without getting kicked you are not dead every time but you get a heavy beating for sure)
But as a light you don't do the killing shot. In long matches, where you can reach 400 or even 500 dmg in a light mech, in 1/3 or 1/2 of the cases I have not one kill. perhaps 6,7 or even 8 assists, but no kill. In one battle I had destroyed 9 components (cat ears, Yen Lo Wang AC20 arms) and not a single kill!
But I have also killed a number of cats and Atlases in a 1:1 fight (6 headshoted atlas so far) or at least got them play with me for 2 or 3 minutes.
If a com with 25tons can keep an atlas or LRM boat or "only" a cent occupied and away from the battle for 2 minutes and do 200 dmg on him, the com has done his duty. Even if the com has no kills afterwards.
And that is why the K/D ratio is something nice to look on if it gets better, and an interesting stat for different roles but not more.

But this stat is not important, for me the important is the damage per match and supporting the team.

I will admit to having a highly padded score from 8 man premade vs 8 puggy stompathon we used to have think at one point I had a 24/0 after around 20 matches.

Currently its been floating around 0.52 which is ok for me, looking at how little informative value this stat has. It'd make much more sense to see several of the displayed stats per pilot & owned/trial mech, than just per pilot.

But it does show how 4 man groups has affected us all. However it wont change when go group vs. group which i am anticipating greatly if anything we clan/team types will take further hits to KDR and win percentage as we will be facing other teams/clans and with that higher caliber pilots. I cant wait.

I have only been on this game for a short time, but kill-death is the most misleading stat I have ever seen in any game. I have received a kill for splashing a single medium laser hit against an almost destroyed mech. I have laid out 100s of points of damage, and led the whole match in it, only to have 0 kills.
