Based on the released vids with a timer I would guess you could probably run all over the map to run down the timer if you wanted to, but that's just a guess. If there is a base capture option the game would probably end if the enemy team decided to base cap rather than chasing you.

2 > A base is taken
3 > Round timer expires

Yeah I never liked Beast. Lynx and Hunter were AWESOME though. By the time I could afford Scarab, they were already so tough that Scarab was an afterthought. Also I always reloaded until I got the Madcat on mission 3 with most of the weapons. That's a little bit meta-gaming, but that game was hard enough on harder difficulties, if you had no heavies, forget it.
Also Beast sounds like a total whiner. Not much of a Beast at all really

yeah I was never quite satisfied with my salvaging systems. Allegedly many hits with smaller damage would increase your chances, but it didn't seem to be much better then random to me. I would just surround him with 4 mechs and leg him. At that range all he had were flamers, and he couldn't really maneuvre. ok...
OT,
I hope there is a retreat option, I don't want to be losing equipment to foregone conclusions

i.e. if one team drops below 20% intact 'mechs, it triggers a 5 minute countdown to end the round if the other team stays above that. It'd fit the spirit of the game pretty well, include the idea of retreats (to avoid repair bills) and prevent scout camping.

'End match, no winner? Y/N'
But who knows what contingencies they have planned.

Definitely hoping ejecting is not an option. If you eject, and your team loses the field, you just lost your mech to salvage (realistically). Why would this behavior be rewarded in this game? I think it is a bad idea for game mechanics to promote ejecting, and it will likely be abused and used as a griefing tool.
