So far, after a week of play, I love what I've played on the game, let me preface with that.
Kudos to the game designers and players.

But I'm wondering if assault mission "royal rumbles" are the only type of mission there are, or are "objective" missions available, such as "rescue the <insert objective to be rescued>", "Steal the vital data from the enemy compound", or whatever missions also available?

Sorry. This is it. The mythical Community Warfare is supposed to have some form of progression in the MW universe, but it seems more like a unicorn that can be caught with enough money thrown at it.

New mode called: Conquest is in the works. It will be out as early as next week, but imo 2 weeks is more likely.

Not much different than what there is now except you HAVE to defeat every enemy to win.
