Having been trying this method for 3 days solid,
I can report the greater majority of time, you get excellent feedback and fairly good coordination
What I have found, is that the greater majority of Non premade players actually want to play as a team and are quite happy to follow sensible instructions when invited to do so.
Firstly I have a set of Macro's, that quickly allow me to insert information into the chat box
They have been tweaked somewhat since i first started using them, the following are my current ones
(This I find makes things a lot easier and I know not everyone has macro's, but if you do, take the time to set the following macro's up)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#Macro 1
"If you want to play as a team ..... follow our lead, form up at yellow marker, .. priority targets = 1 letter when typed
# Macro 2
If you do not want to play as a team, fair do's but dont spoil it for those that do, we welcome your suicide diversion.....
#Macro 3
We are a randomly created premade team on teamspeak .... We recommend you all try getting on teamspeak, much more enjoyable
#Macro 4
Thanks for following our lead, well played and good luck in your next match
#Macro 5
Public Euro Teamspeak Address: 109.228.29.191
Password: hG5!4Dg*
#Macro 6
Be patient folks, stay in cover, LRM's kill, don't push, let them come to us and focus fire
#Macro 7
Base is under attack, RTB
#Macro 8
Assault base and cap, leave last mech alone
Step on base, then off, wait for slow movers then we finish the cap
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How I do it.
If I am not the group leader, I get the "Form up point" and pregame plan from the group leader
1) I run #Macro 1 immediately, while still "waiting for pilots"
2) I then type in the form up point
3) I then take the "Commander" position and place a defence marker on the form up point
3) Once I get the commanders tab, which gives you highlighted yellow text, I rerun #Macro 1 and retype the form up point
4) and from then on, I either type
a) --grid ref-- (as a form up point, having repositioned the commanders marker)
or
The others macros I have are also useful, but the above system I find is as simple and as efficient as you can get it
I always end the mission with #Macro 4
What I have found while doing this.
A few friends requests from non Teamspeak players (Never had this before)
On very rare occasions, there has been some animosity from some PUB players, I simply send out #Macro 2 and ignore them. (2 pug players in 20 drops, roughly)
Most of the time, the Pubs respond warmly, fairly quickly and together and they are more than capable of working as a team. There will always be the odd ones that take no notice, but hey that's their choice, use them to your advantage
The downside
Commanding this way takes effort and patience, the reaction time from the team is slower and You personally wont be playing as aggressively as you would normally do.
However, when you take on
I still am looking forward to the 8 man premade drops, voice comms takes far less effort and is way more efficient but until then, this is the best I can manage
