How hard would this game be to pick up?

The game will most likely just tell you how to control the mech and what roles you can play. You will feel the learning curve when you start fighting against competitive teams. It would be good if you read the guide I put together. It will help you get ready to take down other Battle Mechs. I'll update this guide when I get my hands on MWO.

They're calling it a "simulator" but I don't think the learning curve is going to be all that steep. If you want to see a game with a steep learning curve look up "DCS: A-10 Warthog" and find the startup videos. It takes ten minutes of flipping switches in the cockpit just to get the engines running and ready to take off.
I actually have DCS A-10C. Love the realism in that. It takes a while to get used to everything like how all of the systems work but once you get it down it is very rewarding. Thats for all of the suggestions everyone. I'll give Mech Warrior 4 a try.

Okay earlier in gamespy the control scheme would be WS as throttle meaning moving the mechs "head" up and down so its like Mercs control scheme I'm sure there's gona be option for us to change key bindings.Looks like I need more practice in default settings.

If you approach it realizing there will be a learning curve and not expecting the game to conform directly with other experiences, you will have a better time with it.
