<sigh> I am saying that the possibility for us to see airborne targets exists, even PGI left the door open for it. While I have no idea when we can expect to see it, I am not wholly discounting the idea as a 'not going to happen in MWO at all' type of conclusion.

They may have not ever expressly said they would not. But you actually said you could "almost guranteee" they would show up. Which is a bit stronger than saying there is 'possibility to exist.'

I see they haven't closed the door, but I wouldn't say that door is going to open until they actually say they're going to open it.

edit: also you and me have been talking about NPCs, not just non-mechs. I've never seen them hint at NPCs, correct me if you have.

Not seen it yet, but, unless they <devs> are going to play the part of the clan forces, that is imho a HINT at inbound NPCs once the clans hit us. I mean its either A. Have the devs be the clans, B. Make them all NPC's for the battles, or C. make them a faction once the invasion hits. I am OPEN to any idea beyond this on how you think the clan things gonna go down motionless.

It's got to be C as far as I can tell.

They couldn't pull off A, because they don't have enough players on their side to match the number of us playing against them.
B would require them to implement an AI for NPCs, and who wants to play against bots instead of other players?

Exactly what the title says. It's a Mechwarrior game. I think it should be a Mech only game, no aircraft/aerospace and no tanks or hovercraft like Mechwarrior Living Legends. I like the Elementals though.

Interesting that you should say that, do you know what the definition of 'mechanized warfare' is? Plus there is a Mechwarrior pen and paper RPG where you do a lot more than just run around in a battlemech (pretty sure you can operate everything from a motor-scooter to a warship). I'm not saying tanks/aerospace absolutely need to be playable but it seems to add more depth and layers to the game. Plus even the Shiva E in MWLL can get swatted out of the sky regularly by a force that has any AA weapons.

Consider this, the term Mech started as a shortening of the word Mechanical while generally used in terms of giant mechanical robots such as Battlemechs, Gundams, Varitechs, Big-O and the list goes on but even Aerospace fighters, Conventional fighters, Helos, Tanks, Hover Tanks, ect, ect, are considered mechanical so 'Mech' can refer to such units as well. As to your complaint about this being Mechwarrior, if you want to return to it's roots, this is Battletech which does include combined arms, Mechwarrior is just the name that the computer companies decided to use because originally you were taking the seat of a Mech warrior piloting a Battlemech into combat.

BTW if you don't want anything but 'Mechs, then you don't want Elementals since they are not 'Mechs they are power armors that enhance the wearers abilities as well as provide protecting and a platform for weapons.

Every aspect of Battletech warfare should be introduced to MWO sometime in the future. Having aerotech fighters, tanks, hovercrafts, VTOLs and battlearmor as playable assets would be fantastic, so I am really looking forward to MWO gradually turning into a full-fledged combined arms a couple of years or so after the release.
