Paul, when collisions go back in any chance of ac 20 causing knockdowns?

To do that would take control away from a player while getting up. I think knockdowns will stay limited to the Charge ability. - Paul Inouye

Streak-SRMs - OMG NERF THEM! UPDATE (Nov 26,2012): – Paul Inouye

Just so you guys know, I'm not looking into nerfing damage or operation right now. This nerf should not directly affect people using 1 or 2 launchers. We are trying to look into ways of reducing efficiency when you try to boat these systems. We are still discussing the implications of some planned routes and again, I'll let you know what we start to move forward with.

Currently damage caused by: 1 LRM missile (1.7 damage) or 1 SRM missile (2.5 damage) or 1 AC2 round (2.0 damage); Can chain stun a mech with crippling motion blur and screen rock.
This is done via SSRM2 boating (100% auto hit combined continuous fire), LRM missile through 2 or 4 port launchers, where a continuous stream of LRMs can continually rock an opponent (and isolate damage since there is much less missile spread through 2 and 4 port launchers), and the AC2 whose native cooldown of .5 seconds combined with its remarkable DPS of 4.0 and heavy knock and chain stun the heaviest mechs indefinitely.

How do your reconcile your original statement on Nov 15th with the Nov 26th statement. You say that do not want to take control away from the player but the sole benefit of the 3 weapons above is to perpetually neutralize opponents though stun-like mechanics. What is truly frustrating is that the weapons cited, are some of the lightest and most efficient available, ensuring that mechs mounting these weapons are not bound by weight and critical slot limitations, and in some cases, even the need to actively target an opponent.

"not looking into nerfing damage or operation right now" does not mean they will not/can not decrease weapon shake values, all weapons are overdue for an adjustment to 'shake' (Impulse) value

how about making shaking weight based

light mech are harder to hit so even if they shake more it don't matter because they will be hit less times

on assault mechs it should be unnoticeable unless hit with AC20

What Redshift said.
They are still looking at adjusting impulse values. AC2s and Streaks specifically need a tweak.

I certainly hope so, when I read damage and operation, I read that as they are no longer looking at a fix for the weapon and are instead focusing on boating in general.
All I know is I am sick of not being able to target (yes they do still have weapons that require you to see your opponent) due to shake, blur, and screen blackening.
Of course there is also the nausia inducing screen blur that carries over to spectator mode, and unfortunately my solution to minimize the game doesn't work because the game simple crashes at the end of match when minimized.

I just got a working tool that allows me to tune the impact properly. What does that mean? I can make the AC/2 not rock your cockpit like you were hit by a 747.

I will be doing a full pass on all weapons in the very near future and also do the Gangnam dance in front of the programmers so they expedite the changes in to the build.

But will you be naked as you dance? Perhaps your junk gyrating in there faces will hurry along the changes.

I would pay to not see it. But this kind of interactivity with the forums is making me a happy camper again!
Keep up the good work Paul!
(except the gangnam style dance, that is bad work, bad)

This is actually exactly what we do in our office to motivate people to get things done faster. It works really well.

Blinding them with the Pink Lightning would be counterproductive.

Edit: Yay, properly variable impulse!
