This is the Blue Ray DVD rom that i purchased for my gaming PC

This rom had read my Motherboard install CD well as well as some other CDs, but when i put in a DVD or blue ray DVD and boot up my Windows Media Player it doesn't recognize that i have a DVD in the drive, although it's displaying the movie's name.

When go to "my computer" and righ-click and click on play i get an error message that says:

Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD. The disc was created in a manner that the Player does not support.

This is the first time me ever building a PC. Was there a driver i was supposed to download? Last time i owned a PC that had a DVD drive i had no issues playing movies through WMP...but of course it was a prebuilt PC.

How do i solve this problem?

I don't even know if media player has the codex' for DVD built in anymore. Download VLC, install, use it to open discs and watch movies. . problem solved.

thanks! I downloaded installed the software and tried to play the DVD but then i got this message: This Blu-Ray Disc needs a library for AACS decoding, and your system does not have it.

Any suggestions?

There's a little more you need to do to get VLC to play Blu-ray.

See this post on the VLC forums:

Yes, HUGE difference between DVD and Blu-ray. I never could get conventional blu-ray playback to work on PC.
