They said no custom decals at one point, haven't noted any changes. That needs to be repealed.... especially given the 5965 canon units in the game with their own insignias from which we cannot choose ( assumed, since the names cannot be shared ). Letting a talented pool of individuals such as this community not express themselves will not go over well for long, especially if it continues to trend that way.

It's not that they want to limit the creative of the community, it is that they don't have the resources or inclination to check each custom insignia/logo for inappropriate or copywritten content. Other games can get away with this, but BT's history of litigation is most likely making PGI hesitant to let us run free, in the game that is

I highly expect to see something like Call of Duty Black Ops did with its logo creator.

So no custom logos outside of the game, but an in-game logo creator could be done well and help keep vulgarity or copyright issues to a minimum.

You're not there. Unrelated to the copyright or Battletech.
MW4 on it was just one file to copy a directory, the options, they chose or not to see the famous "custom decals", and basta!
it is part of folklore that every BT MechWarrior have his badge.

PS: In don't understand : 5965 canon units . google translate sucks with it. (me too ^^ )

There are five thousand nine hundred sixty five canon units that have their names on a blacklist that does not allow anyone to use those names for their own unit.

So any of those 5,000 or so names that were ever in an official BattleTech, Mechwarrior or similar published product are off limts for players to assume control of in MWO. And the unique images that go with them we assume.

As it stands, that seems to be the case.

It's an issue with copyright and ownership of different parts of the franchise. If you could put in custom decals then many would be using graphics that PGI doesn't have the rights to, and then you'd be involving the developer in copyright issues
