To sum things up, it sounds like China and some other countries are looking to make the internet be regulated through the UN, quite possibly with the ability to censor the internet should it go through.

And in response, most of the major US tech companies, (Apple, Microsoft, Cisco for some) with Google at the lead are going to the UN to try to keep the internet, as Google states, "free and open".
