I mostly pilots Centurions, and I find it frustrating how difficult it can be to use SRMs thanks to the little doors on my missile tubes.

Supposedly a few patches ago when the toggle for them was added we were meant to get some sort of HUD indicator for them, but I never found it and I haven't seen any further information about it.

I know the toggling works, I had a friend watch me in game when I did it once, and it does generate a beep, but it's just a bit annoying not knowing when they have closed again.

So what's the story here? Is it in game and I'm just too blind to see it?

Press the slash key, or whatever your language would have bound to it. My swedish keyboard makes me press - and my doors toggle open.

There is a tiny light, lower left that changes from yellow(closed) to green(open). It's red when the bay doors are destroyed.

It's really hard to notice without paying attention. Hopefully when B.Betty is finished, bay doors will have a voice line.

I don't know about the cent but the catapult has lights on the cockpit frame.

And what does opening the doors do?

When the doors are closed, there's a noticeable delay when firing. When they're open, it's pretty much instant fire. Very important for SRMs.

When the doors are closed you get a small damage reduction but when you fire, the doors have to open before the missles launch, causing a long delay. With the doors open the delay is reduced but the damage reduction is lost.

Thanks guys, I was looking for something on the HUD, not the actual cockpit, although it seems the centurion just doesn't get this luxury, since I still can't find any sort of light while free looking around that indicates the status of my missile doors, and it's definitely not visible at standard FOV without free looking if there is one.

I'd try the cat to get an idea of what I'm looking for but sadly I don't own one and it's not a trial mech anymore.

It actually has a light. You uhh, can't really tell what state your doors are in from it.
Ask a team mate if they're open or closed, and hit slash until they're open.

Well the most accurate(and wasteful) way is dumping a salvo, and seeing if there is any delay.

Made a screenshot for you.
The lamp on your left indicates that they're open.

ah hah, thanks for the screenshot, so it is there and it does work, it's just, inexplicably placed just the tiniest bit off to the left so I have to free look at it.

Think I might increase my FOV by a degree or two to get it in sight.

The color of the cent's lamp makes it almost impossible to tell if they're open or closed. I still ask my team if they are.
Cats have it a bit easier. It's not that big a deal, I guess, since you can indeed just ask someone to look for you. Maybe they'll make your computer tell you when they're open later.
