I've noticed when spectating that often other people get locks for their homing weapons (like LRMs) much faster than I do. I added a Beagle Active Probe to one of my Mechs recently and noticed that that sped the process up a bit. However, I still appear to lock on slower than some of the people I've seen. Are there other things you can add to your Mech/Pilot to improve this or is this perception just caused by lag when spectating?

Target locking has been made server authoritative since the last patch. So the lock on you see when spectating will be shorter by twice your ping.
Additionally people might be using tag to decrease the lock on times.

IIRC the capture module only speeds up the rate at which you capture a base.

Yes, TAG and BAP working in concert make lock-ons very, very rapid.

I figured out what was causing the difference. The Artemis upgrade massively increases the speed that you lock on to your opponents. You get this benefit even if you are using streaks which don't get the other benefits of the upgrade.
