Is it possible to earn all the experience necessary to fully unlock a mech, sell that mech, purchase another variant, and then fill out the trees on the mech you've sold in order to unlock bonuses on the new mech?
I've looked for this question, but I haven't found it. My wife says I'm blind, though, so that might be a problem here.
Just wondering. Thanks.

Ya know what? Although I know that sold Mechs remain leveled-up if you choose to buy them back... and you need to have at least 3 variants leveled-up to the top of a tier before moving on to the next tier... but I don't know if you need to possess all 3 Mechs in a Variant line at the time you intend on bringing them up to the next tier...
So, if you have a tier-1-maxed Jenner 7K, but you already sold your tier-1-maxed Jenner 7-D and 7F... I don't know if you can start bumping your current Jenner-7K up to the next tier. I'd assume so, but don't know for certain.
I'm pretty sure you can't level-up Mechs you don't currently own, though.

You cannot. I made a post on the subject a few patches back, after screwing myself out of MC.

Welll that's a bummer. Seems like something that should be possible, as you outlined. However, I can see why they would limit it simply to create cashflow through bay purchases.

sure, its an incentive to buy more mech bays, but it is possible to do it using just one mech bay without spending MC...
Say variant1 is the one you want to keep in the end
Buy variant1, fill out basic, sell it
Buy variant2, fill out basic, sell it
Buy variant3, fill out basic, fill out elite, sell it
Buy variant2, fill out elite, sell it
Buy variant1, fill out elite, get master

See, I don't know if you can do that or not. I just assume you can, but have not tested it (never grinded my way to max anything out before :-p )

you can, but it requires purchasing a "throwaway" mech twice and your main mech twice.

Why sell the main mech, seems like a waste.

forget the throwaway. Given the horrible sales price of mech hardware, just keep the stupid thing till you make master. Not to mention, as the game changes, some chassis suddenly become valuable again.
Wish I'd kept my DDC atlas.
