Ok dual sticks,
PS Trois Gamepad.
Nuff Buttons + keyboard (stab at emergency ((Eject)) whatever you don't want on the controller. Looked at the forums lots of old joystick hotas setups, got some given basic joystick code in the forums. Find the user config code files your being given and help "develope" for your controller and play style. This is hugely fan based and myth and lore of this game "hardcore" these are "fan based developers". Can't wait till you have to face me a Clan Merc in the timeline, I'm in an Omni.
- 2x heat sinks 2 tons 2 slots standard (clan tech unfair you can have a double heat sink in each leg standing in a lake) ((too bad))
-Standard ES
-Standard FF
-Standard XL
-Omni Hardpoints
Bought a joystick 30-40 price range with twist, nice cheap didn't dial it in properly. Had the code didn't understand it. Returned it, get a gamepad (-twin sticks this is how its meant to be ((short a neuro-helmet)) Ok guys like to assign weapon groups to buttons ((DUMB)). Assign weapons to groups (i.e. slot 1 primary fire) ((manageable heat, steady fire, 1 button, preffered range))((2nd button alpha strikes everything at once))(((if you have a special weapon beyond primary and alpha give it a specific key))). If you go xl engine you need max torso armor. It seems like some splash damage from overkill alpha on a cripple limb doesn't transfer to torso.
My twin stick controller setup is almost dialed in, got the code from the forums
THIS IS MY PS TROIS SETTING USER CONFIG FILE
i_mouse_smooth = 0
i_mouse_accel=0
cl_sensitivity = 0.25
cl_joystick_gain = 9
cl_joystick_throttle_range = 0
cl_joystick_invert_throttle = 1
cl_joystick_invert_pitch = 0
cl_joystick_invert_yaw = 0
cl_joystick_invert_turn = 0
i_joystick_deadzone = 0.4000
cl_joystick_deadzone = 0.4000
i_joystick_buffered = 0
cl_fov = 90
gp_mech_view_look_sensitivity = 1.3000
gp_mech_view_zoom_level1_sensitivity_modifier = 0.2
gp_mech_view_zoom_level2_sensitivity_modifier = 0.3
gp_mech_view_zoom_level3_sensitivity_modifier = 0.35
I play it as a ps trois controller in motionJ
My mapping:
-Left stick throttle/turning (dial in your dead zone to avoid cutting throttle when you turn)
-Right stick torso twist/pitch (the look sensitivity controls the speed of this stick) ((haven't played with the modifier settings for the various zoom settings yet noobs.))
-Think "fov" should not be higher than 90 or yellow screen of "DeveloperDeath"
-Right stick click R3 "TARGET"
-Left stick click L3 "Free Look"
-D-pad up "Battlemap"
_D-pad left "thermal/nvg"
-D pad right "thermal/nvg" ((please note your preference))
-D pad down "Shutdown" (I don't use it personally but I hear you can break missile locks)
-R1 primary fire
-R2 Alpha strike
-L1 Zoom mode (basic) ((advanced is assigned to a button))
-L2 special weapon
The "Select, Start and Home button are all assignable"
-Not to mention the rest to map
If you want a twin stick setup go with a twin stick gamepad and a keyboard for emergency commands. That being said I love these hardcore guys with full on custom immersive setups. There's alot of hardcore Mechwarriors (I even owned a basic setup of the board game)
My dual stick controller setup is starting to get dialed in. I played "steel battalion" that was an awesome MECH Sim. I beat the first original Mechwarrior game at an uncles house, I used a light mech, let my squad keep em occupied, and cut out heavy mech legs. They can't do much floppin around on the ground (LOL).
