Frankly, I love the spread out spawn locations. But was just in an assault match on Caustic where the accepted tactic was the classic chatbox admonition to "Stick together and win."
We started on the lake side and the very first thing everyone did was blob up, then head for the right side of teh crater. I said "whoa, someone check the 3 line before we all clump up on the other side". No Response.

we succumb to a single lance 3-line flank. Which was quickily reinforced by a second lance when they saw that Me and my Shadow Hawk were the only thing between them and our base. Took several frantic chatbox messages to convince everyone of the import of this. Then instead of blocking the base my boys formed a tentative firing line on the edge of the caldera. Which was sound tactics, if the base hadn't been wide open with eight mechs bearing down on it.

The new drop points are meant to simulate a battle line, offer more tactical options and opportunities for unique engagements and so forth. Favoring not only superior firepower but the more mobile force. Oftentimes with elements fighting a holding action while the superior firepower is moved into place.
But have you noticed that people incapable or unwilling to adapt to that mindset instantly negate the issue by clumping again?

Personally, I love the new sites, but recognize its not a perfect system.

I like how it encourages more "out of the box" thinking, and I feel both this, and Arty strikes being so effective againt the blob ball will have a net positive effect in the long run, but in the short term, the knee jerk reactions out of many are to be expected as with any drastic change in the metta.

The big Issue I have with it is that there is no way to stratagize your lance assignments and drops. For all you know, you could drop north in an assault with nothing but lights on Terra Therma, and essentailly be boned. Which is the biggest and most legitimate frustration with the new spawn points.

Once you can start having a bit more control over the drop zones and be able to coordinate with your team, it will be better, but till then, its going to be pretty rough.

Agreed it does lead to some very not-ideal situations, but in a way that kinda simulates the vagaries of combat and suchlike.
