The devs have stated that the counter to an ECM is TAG. In order to make that truly the case they need to
simply change it from an energy slot dependent weapon into a module. Cat-A1's could use them with SRM's and be effective against mechs with ECM. Still couldn't use SSRM's.

How about not a Module, but just another piece of Equipment?

I think TAG should be an equipment, or at least make ECM require an energy hardpoint, to make them even

One thing I've never understood is why the enemy team sees the TAG icon when you're tagging them for your team. Seems to take away the ability to use it in any kind of a stealthy manner.

TAG should not require an energy hard point and should be always on, not shot like a laser.

Did I miss something? What benefit does TAG provide SRMs? Other than canceling the Artetmis benefit, how will ECM affect SRMs at all?

TAG makes sense as an energy hard point. It does not make sense as a module or equipment. Where would it fire from? If I put TAG in my leg would it fire from my knee?

Honestly, I doubt ECM will cancel Artemis for SRMs. It seems too complicated for PGI to try and implement.

They say ECM cancels Artemis as a blanket statement, but SRMs are dumbfire weapons so it can't just flick off if I'm locked on a ECM mech (since I'm not locked). If I'm firing at an ECM mech from 270m, I'm out of the ECM zone and my reticle is going to be on terrain (because I'm leading). How is the code going to determine that I'm aiming "at" an ECM mech and turn my Artemis off? Will the missiles just suddenly spread out if they cross the border of an ECM zone? What happens if they clip the edge of an ECM zone but then move past it towards a non-ECMed mech? Will they spread out and then close up again?

How to get TAG on your StreakCat
  • Team up with a Raven-3L that has ECM, BAP, and TAG
  • Continue to own faces as normal. As a bonus, you get fire support from the Raven

Same thing could be said for "incoming missiles" warning, or the ECM status indicators...
