I don't know if the MW:O people already got this planned out, but I might as well contribute this idea.
This idea is what I hope will stop AFK players, suicides, and team-killers.
Let's begin.
As far as I can tell, it is difficult for the devs to track down the players that do these game-breaking things. So I tried to think about something they all had in common.
They all have a damage of 0 or negative.
---AFK players never move or shoot an enemy mech. Their damage is 0.
Note: This includes afk bots that run their mechs out-of-bounds to explode.
(Exception: None.)
---Team-killers will damage friendly mechs. Their damage is -1 or less.
Note: This requires a player to manually & willingly target friendlies and shoot them.
(Exception: The player kills a few of their team and gets negative damage points; then try to gain positive damage points by killing enemies.)
---Overheat then suicide. The player does not damage any enemies, so the damage is 0 or -1 or less since they damaged them-self.
Note: This can be done through the player or a bot.
(Exception: The player could attack enough enemies to outweigh the negative damage of the suicide.)
Note to Exception: This can only be done through a player.
In all these cases, to do any damage, whether positive or negative, it is a requirement that the player be in aiming the mech to damage an enemy/teammate. There is no bot that can auto-navigate, auto-aim, and auto-shoot in this game (at this time).
All this needs to be true for the idea to function.
Now for the idea.
If a player has zero or negative score after the conclusion of the battle report, the next time the player is at their home screen, their launch button will be locked.
Don't get your knickers in a bunch yet, let me explain how to unlock it.
There will be a small pop-up saying something like...
"Sorry to inconvenience you. But you played below average in your last game. While we understand it may have been unlucky, please type the word or phrase from the picture below."
Then you will see that bot-checker dialog box with funky written letters that you need to type out. If you read and type it in correctly, you should get something like this...
"Thank you for your understanding. To apologize for taking from your time, please enjoy a +50% C-bill bonus to your next victorious drop."
Please notice that it must be "victorious" to get the bonus. Also, this will obviously be abused in some way, so it should only be given once a day.
Each time the dialog has to lock your launch button, a flag will be put on your account.
After 3 flags, the player's owned mechs will be disabled for one day and only trial mechs may be used during that time. Also, only 1 trial mech may be used at a time; meaning that all of the mechs must be out of the game to launch again. So, an in-game mech will stop the launch.
In which case, if you are a legitimate player who does zero or negative damage three times in a row, how did you even get enough money to afford a mech to begin with?
After 10 flags, the game will not longer launch and the player will receive an email with instructions of how to unlock their account after 24 hours.
I like this idea because it is forgiving to players that get cockpit shot from enemies before they do damage; it allows players to disconnect when they have an internet issues; and instead of being annoying, the dialog bot-box will be a nice c-bill buff and let the players know that things are being done against afkers, team-killers, and suicide farmers.
Hopefully, with this idea, the devs will be able to cut down on the volume of emails they must be getting from people witnessing these players breaking the rules.
That was my idea. So what about the flaws.
Finally, what about all those exceptions I mentioned? Won't those still be abused?
Those exceptions are mentioned because there is nothing anybody can predict of a player that consciously takes pride in playing number games with how much positive damage they need to beat the flags. The player is literally piloting the mech to break the Terms of Agreement. They should be reported just as we have been doing so far.
Thank you for your time in reading my big long post.
