What about a game play mode where you go in for a set ammount of matchs(like 3+) and have a story but no npcs both sides are made up of real people and both have objectives e.g. defend this,that,him/her(real people) ect. Then between the matchs you could customise your mech or change it like in a real campaign but to balance this out you would need something to mesure out every ones, well tonnage, weapons ect so the battles are balancedish. To make it worth it you only get rewards for finishing the whole thing that you selcted and if you drop out you might be stoped from playing a match for 1 hour or so.
Also some mech types might be banned on a mission or required this works the same for weapons because your not going to take a flame thrower on a mission where you are on protection deatil at a fuel plant. And some mech might be to big e.g. your sent to investegate a plan crash(or somthing like that) in a narrow ravine so your bigger mechs can't go or they can but they would just sit there.
Yes some of the ideas i have taken from other posts because they work.

campaign idea would be fun, with the result written by teh victory of course.
only probleom would be they would have to think of every possible senerio that could happen and write a program for said result. unless they fixed it so only certain result could happen, either way the amount of work needed for this would be enrmousf

I can see a flowchart with lists in some parts of it, and map elements attached -which combine to make anywhere from 1-3 maps and outlines objectives. Victory conditions can maybe cut the match short by 1 to 3 maps, depending on the situation, and adjust Cr payout and scale the slant of the playing field accordingly. Map information might vary if there's a "home team advantage" at work.
..such things might need a backfill feature I think.

well i only see two options per victory win or lose to start so for say 3 rounds you would have 7 options
with this in mind you could go in circles when you move onto other options thus limiting it
