I've had to go AFK a couple matches to answer the door or a call from the boss... I'd surely hope I didn't get in trouble for such a thing regardless of my dishonorable actions.
your best bet is that if you see the same person multiple times around the same time frame to remember their name and send PGI an e-mail w/ the account info 'n a brief description.
I know from experience they'll get back to you shortly, and it doesn't feel like a generated response that was ignored

I was asked to grab a screenshot of a TKer or AFKer when reporting, but I really have no idea of how to do it without capturing video.

As you already appear to have video capture software, they all have a screen-shotting function, built-in.

They need to change the reward system, thats all. Then people who DC won't be penalised that much but people can't afk farm. The system below would make it more expensive if you CTD early in a match though.
Alter the set awards for win/loss to be based on performance.
For example:
Win/loss reward starts at 0
For Damage done apply a multiplier of 2.5k for Lights, 2k for mediums, 1.5k for heavies and 1k for assaults. Add this amount to the win/loss reward.
For Spot assist, Kill assist and kills multiply the award by 5. Add this to the win/loss reward.
Cap the Win/loss reward at 100k/75k respectively.
This means that a minimum contribution to the battle gets you the base reward you get now. AFK, heat suicide, rush suicide, out of bounds suicide all drastically reduce income. As this system is about income rather than costs it can apply to trial mechs and non-trial mechs equally.
So a Light that does 32 damage and 2 spot assists gets 100k on a win/75 on loss, An assault would need 80 damage plus two assists. Someone who AFKs might get 10-20k for spot assists if they are lucky. Someone who overheat suicides straight away gets 0 income for the win/loss, pretty much all they can hope for is a Cap win reward.
This approach of capping the reward rather than doing something like multiplying by .75 if you lose does not penalise an unlucky game as much as it would otherwise. If the light above wanders into the main enemy force and does 10 damage before dying they still get 25k on a loss, a single spot assist adds another 10k. They would only need 26 damage and 1 assist to get the full 75k loss reward.
The benefit of this system is that it is much easier to tweak. If people are not getting enough out on losses then they could increase the multipliers for the amount applied to a loss reward but keep the cap at 75k for example, so a light that only managed 10 damage could then get 40k added to the reward rather than 25.
Other things that they could also change include:
1. If you use quit match before you die you get no rewards. That stops the logout after 2 seconds crowd.
2. Change overheat death and out of bounds from just destruction to also damage to your mech to a certain point if you are above it (e.g. you always go to 50% armour and 50% internal, those numbers can of course be altered as long as it results in a repair bill to someone otherwise undamaged). That stops the overheat/run out of bounds farmers as they will always have to repair. If you suffer overheat death in a match then you have probable already taken damage so it wont drop you much further or cost you much more.

Okay, official unofficial reply (since I'm not officially anything):
The MechWarrior: Online Support staff are responsible for handling all reports of illicit in-game behavior such as cheating, farming, TeamKilling, etc. If you want to report this kind of behavior, then please send an email to support@mwomercs.com with the player name(s) involved, the time and date of the match, the map, Mechs people were using, a description of the behavior/dialogue involved, and any screenshots if possible. I, personally, use the print screen button on my Windows Vista system, and it works for me.
If you have any questions or would like to know more about the specific MW:O rules, then you may read through the Code of Conduct and Terms of Use, and you can always contact a member of the Moderating Team for assistance. Thanks for playing
