Hi guys,

I went on and bought an aws-8T and i'm struggling to find a decent build for it. Has anyone built like a "master" build for that particular chassis? I know the general principles how to play most playstyles, and all builds are welcome and will propably be tested. So far i'm having hard time landing on anything solid that would give me the best bang for the buck. I read the "awesome awesome (aws-8R)" build and it's something i was hoping to achieve with 8T, but since the hardpoints are that much different i realize i might have gone wrong. I would like to find a good build for my 8t, now that i spent all my cash on it. =) The Awseome awesome build is a great build imo, i'll be sure to try that one out as soon as i get the money for 8R, but for now i'd like to "master" the 8T.

Things i already have are all the basics. Standard engine and so forth, but i enjoy building from ground up, so endo steel, dhs and engines are all go for me, and i will propably save money part by part for them. Feel free to post anything you have had success with, and let's see if we can crank this hunk-a-junk to 11.

290 standard. 4 Large Lasers, as many DHS as will fit (20 I think) Take alittle armour off the legs to fit. Wicked awesome having 4 LL on arm mount. Pinpoint, easy to aim 36 alphas make new pilots dangerous. Heat is easily managed, even when caught in a brawl because you can nearly shoot straight sideways. Try not to brawl though. No need when you can hit CT at 500m on the run.

Thanks. I'll be sure to try that one out. That might be a good money grinding build as well. It's a shame that the missile hardpoints hold only one each, the 8r is the one for srm's i think.

Or, you can turn the build above into a full-spectrum fighter by adding 2xASRM6. Now you have a 66 damage alpha strike.

I can help you "live" if you like. Send me a private message if you're interested in building something together ;).

I never understood why people would use a 4 large laser awesome. The build your describing can fit on a DRG-1C using an XL300 engine, with 19 DHS instead of 20. 20 tons lighter, same firepower, much faster, nearly the same heat efficiency. Its also arguably more durable, because you have the speed to keep away from people.

Now, about that.. So it's obviously srm 6's with artemis on the torsos, but what about heatsinks, and arm lasers? LL all the way?

When engaging beyond ASRM's max range, use only LL. The heat should be totally manageable. When things get close and personal, Alpha if your heat is low, fire only ASRM when heat is high. The cooldown cycle should allow your 'Mech to dispense the heat eventually. I've never used 8T, but based on MWO Mechbay and my previous experience this should work.

EDIT: Sorry I forgot. You'll need an XL engine for that.

One of the best parts of 2LL on each arm is when both lasers in one arm are grouped together, when fired one arm at a time there are no convergence issues.
