I myself would love to be ne of the Bulls. Even though I'm nominally aligned with House Davion (Fedsuns Forever!) I would also love to join the Taurian Concordat and lay the smackdown on some fedscum to pay them back for the reunification war. I doubt the Devs will include periphery realms, and certainly not at launch, but if they did, which realm would you join?

Major Powers

Major Periphery powers have prospered as a result of the "Piranha Principal". A larger Inner Sphere state, for example the Free Worlds League, would be able to conquer the Magistracy of Canopus. However, the effort required to subdue the Magistracy would require the League to lower its defenses against both the Lyran Alliance and the Capellan Confederation. The cost required to subjugate a major Periphery power has allowed larger Periphery realms relative peace. Though Periphery realms have experienced several wars, only twice, during the Reunification War (2577-2597) and the Amaris Civil War (2767-2780), has the undivided attention of the Inner Sphere military-industrial complex been aimed at Major Periphery powers.
  • Rim Worlds Republic: The greatest of the Periphery realms, the Rim Worlds Republic was founded in the Rift and flourished undiscovered by the Inner Sphere for 88 years. The Republic was directly involved (and destroyed) during the fall of the Star League.
  • Taurian Concordat: The largest of the existing Periphery realms, the Taurian Concordat is located within the Hyades Rim. The Concord is noted for its fiercely patriotic people and mild xenophobia.
[edit] Medium Powers
  • Marian Hegemony: The Marian Hegemony is a small, aggressive state, located among the March Worlds. The Hegemony is noted for its adoption of an Imperial Roman social model.
[edit] Minor Powers
  • Barony of Strang: A Bandit kingdom ruled by the descendants of supporters of Stefan Amaris, overrun by the Clans.
  • Fronc Reaches: Formerly named the New Colony Region, this nation gained independence in 3066.
  • Mica Majority: A minor collection of atmospherically domed colonies.

After getting dissatisfied as merc about my principals i could imagine to become a pirate.
Where can i go then?

Also i had imagined thinking about a Battletech/Mechwarrior-RPG that it would be cool to make your own realm in unoccupied space.

But yes, i would like to play a lowtech (3025?) scenario in the peripherie.

Unfortunatly the Oberons gets crushed some time this year my good sir.

The Clan invasion

In 3049, the worlds of the Oberon Confederation were quickly overrun by the Clan invasion. Forces from Clan Wolf defeated the defenders in short order, their technology ahead of the defenders by centuries. Because of the Hyperpulse Generator blackout, only rumours of the invasion reached the Inner Sphere at first, barely ahead of the invasion. Contact with the periphery region of the Oberon Confederation had not yet been re-established since the blackout when the Clan invasion struck.
Quote is from Sarna's page on the Oberon Confederation.

The Magestry looks like fun, more of a vacation spot for me though.

Outworlds Alliance has always been a favorite of mine. Never liked the fact they merged into the Raven Alliance but do like the back story of the Alliance aerospace pilots handing the clanner aerospace pilots their six'es :P OA also makes great settings for Battlemech pilots because the realm idolizes their aerospace pilots and almost distain the ground pounders.

However, I also prefer Astrokazsy as well. Lots of fan fiction story ideas I had on that little barren rock :)

Looking at the logo the Piranha employees show here on the forums... it does bear some semblance to a derelict bull's head... just saying... :)

Good thing I'm not in the Oberon Confederation eh? :P Just happenstance that my character happens to be an illegitimate child of the ruling house. I came to the inner sphere to strike it rich as a merc blah blah blah blah. It all fits the time line, no worries :)

Always had a soft spot for the Rim World's Republic. And I never will forgive that tyrant Kerensky for wiping out entire worlds just because one man killed a single whiny piece of royalty. Curse him and his wretched Clanner offspring.

By a single whiney piece of royalty do you mean every living member of House Cameron?

Taurians

they seem like a whole society of slightly unhunged conspiracy theory survivalist types, only replace the word "the government" or "they" with Fedrat scum or Davions.

which i think is hilarious

"Damn Fedrats, dey tuk uur jurbs!"
