*Yawn* another AFK/Bots thread... This one is different: short and to the point.
Too many games are spoiled by fake players killing themselves by overheating or other creative manners of removing themselves from the gene pool, within seconds of the match début.
These guys should earn zero C-Bills.
This will stop the abuse immediately. I think everyone agrees on this.
But how change earnings so bots get zero without throwing out of the window the frail game economy balance brought in by PGI?
Simple: link basic earnings to one single condition:
inflict at least one point of damage on enemy.
Call it "first blood" or something. Make it worth the base amount you get in case of defeat - yeah, thousands of C-Bills. Condition all further earnings to this simple rule: inflict at least one point of damage.
People killing themselves get zero.
People playing badly but at least moving towards enemy line, trying to encounter enemy and score some damage will earn as many C-Bills as now, even if they die quickly.
I'm not an expert player, but in my hundreds of games I failed to inflict a single point of damage maybe twice. That's a small price to pay to get rid of afk players and other suicide players, bots or not.

been saying it for weeks already, take away the "just showing up" money off the table and the bots go away immediately
PGI doesn't want to do it, is the only thing you can conclude

The way to fix it is to use a NON ******** ECONOMY MODEL.
That means you get paid for the DAMAGE, SPOTTING,KILLS, COMP DESTRUCTION, get hit (yes get hit, means you were at least in the battlezone) . GEt from Salvage of mechs you spotted or Damaged .
Not paid for wins or losses. If you win you get 50% bonus.
Simple. If you suicide you earn ZERO because you spotted no one, you hit no one you did NOTHING!!

You'd have to tweak that a bit. Probably add that if you did 0 damage, but stood in the enemy base you get C-Bills. You'd also have to do something for spotters that don't pack long range weapons but stay at reasonable distances from the people they're targetting for the LRM boats.

Makes sense indeed. In a few games both teams missed each other completely and ended up in other team's base. Win (or loss) was decided without a shot. You could call that "infiltration" instead of "first blood", both being exclusive of course.
With current random placement and orientation, I think it would be difficult even for macro coders to make their 'Mech run to enemy base.
