I'm not sure if anyone else had the same experience, but more than 90% of the time, I start on the upper city side (E7). At first I had thought maybe it just felt that way, but since I've been keeping track I realised it is indeed strange.

Does your kill/death ratio, win/lose ratio, mech choice, or even your name(?) have any influence regarding which side you start on? I'm an average player with roughly equal win/loss ratio, and pilot Catapults, Hunchbacks, and Jenners.

Also I have found that if I start on the upper city side, there's a very high probability of my team losing the match (and if I'm on the other side, it's the opposite). Would that have any influence?

I've notice the same behavior concerning the start up location, but I've not notice a winning/loosing relation to that, I thing this is related to some game style preference associated with the location or an unbalance project of the battlefield...

My experience is that starting upper city is pretty much a death sentence, especially on night mode. Your team starts up all separated, with many obsticles to go around before you get together, so everyone winds up wandering around aimlessly for the first minute or so, or they just wander off separately.
Also, I do tend to start on upper city way more often than lower city, especially if I am not in a premade. If I am grouped with a friend, I start upper city only about half the time. Wierd and annoying. Not to mention night mode river city sucks

Yes, I've noticed that with River City as well. 90% of the time I start on the upper city side. Also on Frozen City, 90% of the time I start on the bottom of the map.

The pattern you are noticing is something that depends on the premaids. The larger premaid group starts in the lower city the smaller group in the upper. The same happens on the other maps...
