I don't think the devs are stupid or purposely trying to rip us off. I just don't think they know a whole lot about marketing, what makes f2p work, and what our habits and expectations are. Every time they release something new it feels like they had no idea how people would use it before it went live and the only way to get a system looked at is to cause an absolute ****-storm on the forums; ergo we need more ****-storming on this particular topic. We've had no official feedback so there is no way of knowing if they recognize that there might be an issue here.

I probably shouldn't attribute this to malice when it might come down to lack of programmers/time to polish the system, but man oh man it rubs me the wrong way in its current incarnation.

It's the problem of general devs money whoring, for the amount of content we are getting and quality of it, for all the yellow screens, black screens, 4 fps memory leaks, CTDs and lag shields, for the AWFUL performance, average graphics*, no physics or destruction, small maps and 8v8 -

! they are asking too much real money !

*independent developers making a beauty of cryengine 3 where PGI can do ****, despite of the fact that they are saying: 'we're working with nvidia'.

They should make colours and schemes permanent in a wardrobe.

They should also make it so people can assign a camo and colour loadout to each map in the game so when you load into that map, you load the proper camo for that environment.

Have to agree with this, yes i bought the phranken skin for my cataphract but wasn't really awake when purchasing so annoyed now that i lose this skin if i want to change my camo pattern.

The skin's as some have already mentioned should be like the pc gamer one, where you purchase once and change when you want, in other games i have different costume's/ colour's i change all the time when i get bored with my look.

In it's current implementation i have paid for that 1 skin and i will not change it as i lose the money already spent, if there was more skins that were permament then i would have been buying most if not all of them.

TL;DR, camo patterns and colors should be bought permanently, for every mech/variant. Think PC Gamer camo here. Don't increase prices, in fact lower them. Maybe let in non-permanent camo, but make it dead cheap. End of message.

Sorry, but no. The title is not Gov spec. No fantastic 'End of the Day' inferences. No obscure reference to increased 'Functionality'. Even the font is not in compliance with OPM 231-23 (2011).

Sorry. Epic fail.

I like this idea. It reminds me of how Planetside 2 does camo purchases, which is completely reasonable (except for the "tied to character instead of account" detail).

+1 from me.

I have to admit I forked over some of my MC horde for 2 schemes, 250 MC each (no patern, 1 base collor and 2 MC colors).

However, there's not a chance in hell I will ever change these, since I payed for them. I think some system to let people keep colors/schemes they payed for with MC is needed if a continued stream of revenue is expected. Personally I'm more likely to try out new schemes if I know I can switch back without forking over more cash. I don't much care if it costs a million Cbills to apply an old scheme again, but I'm not paying for the same thing twice.

A lot of people don't mind paying a bit to customise something. But not a single person likes to waste money.

I really hope PGI sees this. If purchased camo specs were permanent, I would give you my money. As long as they aren't, I won't. I can't speak for other people but I have a feeling I'm not alone in this. Paying c-bills to switch between patterns purchased with MC would be absolutely fine.

+1 same for colours.

I would like the colours to be selectable after forking out the MC for them. I can understand if they want MC for each mech but you should not have to repay for the colours/skin on a particular mech once you've purchased it.

That was the gist...or a one time buy for less money.

Pretty much this.

I want to tinker with mech paintjobs on occasion. I am not going to spend MC every time I want to do so.

300 MC for a single color, 750 for a "set" or whatever, 1000 for a pattern, one time purchase making it available to all of your mechs, with it costing CBills every time you alter the paint job.

Would literally buy every single color, pattern, and a bunch of decals too. For Internet Robot Dress-Up. LOL.

*bump*

Without being able to "test" your camo ingame, the barrier to purchase is really high.

I purchased some paintjobs, but I stopped recently, as I saw that I am basically paying for "trial and error" methods. In the start it was new and cool, but it would be too expensive to paint all my mechs. Just is too expensive to find scheme that looks cool ingame. Its a waste of money.

And I am not bitching about the game payment stuff in general here. I bought your santa, I bought the blinking lights.... it all works fine.

I basically did it, cause I had MC and want to support the game. Though the paint feature is really just a rip off.

If I recall... in one of the latest Dev Q&A's they are looking into making camo specs permanent purchases for use on multiple mechs. No confirmation, just that they're looking into it (if I remember correctly)

Q: Is there a chance that we might be able to have an option to buy mech paint colors and camo patterns permanently and for multiple mech use, versus the current single time, single mech purchase?
A: Yes.

There is a chance - but it doesn't mean they're looking at it, at this time.
