This is not meant to be verbatim, but is a really good intro (I think) to what many of us here already know from reading and being involved in our passion for so many years.

So if you are new to what Mech Warrior and Battletech is, then this can help you get a pretty good idea of how things came to be as they are currently, and especially given the launch date game timeline wise.

I am not saying this is 100% accurate but it gives a lot of good information.

We veterans could benefit from watching it as well :D (not the same as reading the novels but good enough for a short attention span) ;)

Class is in session:

Enjoy -

I like... though it is a bit drawn-out.
Could be condensed, tightened up some - particularly the intro.
But all-in-all, very informative.

I don't like to be critical of these videos because I know they take a lot of effort. But this was about 2 minutes of information stretched into an 8 minute video, and in this case the material is very dry.
I think it was an intersting concept and well executied, just a little long.

So what we really need is a series of battletech lore in a minute videos.

Battletech in 60 seconds:

First, we went into space. Then, we shot each other a lot. Then we kinda got together and formed the Star League. Then the Star League peeps shot the other peeps and took over, so everybody was happy and part of the Star League (well, almost everyone). There was, of course, more shooting of peeps here and there, during this time.

Then, there was a civil war, and the Star League wasn't so happy anymore. Kerensky said, "**** this ****, I'm out", and took most of the Star League military with him, and got the fudge out of Dodge.

While he was gone, everyone who used to be part of the Star League brained one another halfway back to the stone age, while everyone who went with Kerensky shot each other a bit, then advanced their technology further, then came back to the Inner Sphere a few hundred years later.

There was more shooting of peeps, the Clans conquered 20% or so of the Inner Sphere, then agreed to fight AT&T for control of some planet called Tukayyid in the *** end of nowhere. They didn't bring enough peeps to the fight, they lost, and they couldn't advance beyond that point for the next several years.

Then, when that deadline was coming up, the IS banded together, called themselves the Star League, and steamrolled Clan Smoke Jaguar, because they got tired of their orbital bombardment of civilian cities, and other such nonsense. After that, they fought another quick battle against the Clans, and made the Tukayyid treaty permanent. Clan Wolf ragequit, though, and said it didn't count.

Then the Word of Blake launched a holy war, pissed everyone off, and got pwned.

Did I miss anything big? :D

Well...I guess I could cut out the Word of Blake bit, since almost everyone thinks Battletech canon went silly as soon as the Jihad started, lol.

Well, mercs were involved in nearly every conflict outside of Clan space (and the ones that were part of Operations Bulldog and Serpent DID operate in Clan space, briefly), so that kind of goes without saying. :P

Cut out the WoB, the Jihad, and let's ignore that part about the Dark Ages... yeah, that's not canon, it can't be...
