I've read in some of the guides that moveable arms give you extra angle of attack over just torso movement.... how does it work? I know there's no controls for moving arms... I have an awesome, hunchback, and atlas, pretty sure at least the awesome's arms are moveable, but to date haven't seen much of a difference.

Every single mech has movable arms. The circle is where your arms aim and the crosshair is where your torso aims.

Holding ctrl allows you to free-look, aiming the arms independently of the torso. With some practice, you can easily apply fire to two locations.

Also moveable arms generally let you FIRE(not LOOK) further behind you. And, if your left side torso is almost destroyed you can position your mech so it's facing left while your arms are still pointed at the enemy. That is if you have worthwhile weapons on your arms and/or streaks. When you do this though you are making it much harder for them to shoot that left side torso because there's a right side, and center torso which are closer/larger targets.

Having arm mounted weapons also can mitigate maximum vertical torso movement. Several machines have very narrow amounts they can move their torso up or down, but arm mounted weapons allow you to hit 2x-4x higher or lower then you would be able to otherwise. Most of the Cicadas and all Gaussapults suffer greatly due to elevation changes at close range, for example.

you have two reticules.

The small circle is where your arm weapons fire, the small + is where your torso weapons will fire.

By separating your arm weapons into a different group you can fire the arms weapons independently; If a mech is on your left or right, you can swing the circle reticule over than and sweep them with some lasers.

In the video you can clearly see the circle reticule moving independently from the torso weapons

Elevation also helps. If you know an enemy mech has mostly torso weapons, try getting close and above it. You can hammer down on him with arm weapons while he cannot shoot back with his torso weapons.
