To make this game a tad more "hardcore" for those who'd want it to be, allow us to:
  • turn off labels (the red and blue triangles) above the 'Mechs
  • declutter the HUD
Turning off labels (optional of course, depending on server-side hosting, e.g. "realism server") would a allow for a less arcadish gameplay because we would require some sort of lock first to identify friend or for (IFF). Friendly 'Mechs would have an IFF transponder built-in, so the lock would show a crossed-out lock, aka "Don't shoot". Additionally a BB voice-over and a cockpit light could convey that even further.

Decluttering the HUD (also optional, depending maybe on personal preferences) and moving items from the HUD into the MFDs inside the cockpit would add to the notion of "realism".
For example, move the weapons loadout screen into the right MFD. Also, remove the red warning messages completely because we have BB for that. Move the paper doll to another MFD, and so on.

While the no-labels suggestion might be a server-side thing, allowing simulation-style players to check a tickbox that states "realism server only" before joining a game, the declutter HUD notion could be a client-side thing, solely based on the preference of the user.

Food for though. I would definitely like to see both.
