I can hit any mech I want to without missles. Please tell me all these complaints are unfounded. Am I playing a Final Release version? Why can I hit everyone?

You are playing the US/Canadian version of the game, the EU and AU versions have not had the netcode bugs fixed yet :)

Netcode was vastly improved in the 11/27 patch. PGI has not even attempted to take any credit for this, though (a safe bet on their end, to be sure). The game is probably still laggy as hell for EU/OC players with high pings.

It was much worse a couple weeks ago.

The netcode issues affect players with high latency, often a result of being located several thousand miles away from the server. In SC, you're relatively nearby.

Netcode issues have the primary effect of making very fast moving Lights difficult/impossible to fire on; when you see your lasers hit the Jenner, they actually do not take appropriate damage, because their actual location may vary from their apparant location due to networking being unable ot reproduce thier movements with high enough fidelity.

It also results in firing delay for ballistic weapons, since to fire a weapon you must send the command to the server, the server checks if it's ok, then sends back to your client to fire. If you were in Queensland instead of south Carolina, this server authorization may take a long time, and when you're trying to shoot a fast mech with a fast bullet, milliseconds are crucial.

If you are near the server, are not using long range ballistic weapons, and are not fighting maximum speed light mechs, you will have essentially no netcode issues. Hitting a Cataphract from 600m is easy, hitting a 140kph Jenner isn't.

It was not improved in that patch.

Rather, the patch previous to 11/27 broke everything really badly, they reverted it to the half functional state it was before the patch that preceded 11/27th.

Example from yesterday: I was in a Cicada with 35 ping. I was shooting at GaussDragon in a circle of death, who was in a Jenner with 28 ping. I had to lead his mech a full one and a half Jenner-lengths to hit him with my medium lasers.

I'm just thankful to all the enemies that decided to stand in front of my 6 SRM6 Catapult. I probably can't hit them otherwise. :)

Unless he never shoots at lights. If the majority of his tactics are "Walk my Atlas directly towards other Atlas who is walking towards me" then actually he probably is hitting them all the time.

I can hit a fast light mech circle strafing me with 4 med lasers (also in a light mech) with +120ms ping. It just feels funny to aim 1,5 mech lengths in front of them.
