I've thought it through again, and would like to pose an idea that I think can help settle the live vs. release confusion some may have (due to the games awkward use of the word "beta"), as well as reward players for the "beta work" that we've done AND could help with PGI/IGP image. I am FULLY aware that PGI has said that the reset for open beta was the last reset, and the most recent founder premium time reset the last of that nature. This isn't so much a reset idea again as a credit issued to us, the players.
I'm suggesting that when the game goes to Community Warfare, we receive a partial (or full) MC credit to our accounts and a possbile refund of a percentage of cbills spent. My reasoning is, the game still has the beta tag. Many player mays believe that we are still testing an unfinished product (the bugs we see would be their arguement) despite the ability to pay for MC. There are many things that have not been released that people would like to test but otherwise can't because it's implemented but just a "place holder" or, not out. People may have made some decisions not fully realizing how things worked, for example, not understanding that you needed to pay to put FF armor on a mech, then to take it off, as well any adjustments the camo editor may go through.
Look at like this too: Right now we see "Mechwarrior Online Open Beta", then "Mechwarrior Online: Community Warfare", which wording says "this is a more complete game"?
This does NOT involve any kind of account reset or removal of things we have already done. we either get a full MC refund, eg, founders would get all 20k (plus anything in addition purchased minus that used for time and mech bays), and all other players anything they have purchased back (minus premium time and mech bays), and a precentage of the Cbills spent modifying mechs back, and like I say, anything we've already done, stays.
For example. A founder who purchased no time, and no mech bays. but let's say a mech or two with MC for 9k...we get 5% back 450MC credt. a person who purchased 10 mech bays 3000 MC, and a mech for 5500K would get back 275 MC. someone who spent all 20k on mechs, 1000MC (now that I think about it, 5% is way too low!), the cbill credit I think should be much smaller...like <1%.
So, we keep our work, and get something back. I can't imagine people not wanting this, and can see why my last suggestion was hated. I think this can also serve as a "thank you" to us for putting up with issues. the number I used is small. when you look at what was spent vs the credit.
Everybody wins.
