Hey everyone, Rabbit here.

Brief introduction: Battletech was launched the year I was born, apparently I took that as a sign. I had Crescent Hawk's Inception and Revenge on their original floppies, and up until a few years ago they were installed on every computer that I built. I played the board game briefly when I was in middle school, but I was primarily interested in the video games. My bookcase is stacked with MechWarrior and BattleTech books. I have game manuals from the original games, hardcover prints of the tabletop game, and more novels than I care to mention.

While in high-school I received beta access to Multiplayer Battletech: 3025. That game has remained one of the best online games I have ever played, and I curse EA daily for shutting it down. Since that time the only game that has come close has been MW:LL, and I had given up hope for the franchise. And then, someone sent me a link to MWOMercs.

Now I am here and I'm ready to play. Beta can't get here soon enough and I have to hope that I can find the person that I need to bribe in order to get access to it.

I believe the head of PGI's 'graft' department is either Garth or Paul. You can send your monetary love to either of them.

Master Card would help you in everything but this... you need to marry Kyle's sister. ;)

Can't say I'm predisposed to brown nosing. I'm hoping my post count is enough to land me a spot in closed beta. I'm in the top 50 of forum spammers on here, you're in the top 1 :).

Well, if I got the math right, my chances of getting ino the closed beta are 0%.
Probability is a bit better with 4% chance that the one inviting me doesn't know about my age, or can't count. ;)

I don't think post count can get us anywhere... unlike cookies, which I mentioned earlier. ;)

You're an underrepresented demographic, all the more reason the beta needs you. I would hope that our fanaticismexcitement about this game would be worth something.

What if we just sent them a whole bunch of Thin Mints?

Paul has been busy the last two weeks pounding out music, apparently. Including stuff for Clans... which is very weird. I am wondering if the music is intro music to maps (like in WoT) or if it is for another aspect of the game (Mechlab, mechbay, ect).

As for beta... who knows what the requirements will be or when it will start.

I think the mech they are missing to really start the testing is a dedicated jump mech and a 'classic' Scout killer. The Jenner has limited JJs (7/11/5) and the Cat is... limited at 4/6/4. I honestly want to see a Assassin or Spider... you know, a 7/11/7 or 8/12/8 mech that has the role of finding hidden scouts and killing them. That is the last real aspect to the role warfare mods... they built up the Scouts (Jenner, Commando, Raven, Cicada) that are fast, non or limited jump capable mechs. If the Wasp or Stinger were not Unseen, I would have expected to see them as the 'jump scout' and 'anti-jump scout' role.

At 10 mechs, they have nearly all aspects of the game covered (beside what I mentioned above). I could see some classic heavy brawlers, but again most of those are Unseen (Warhammer, Marauder, ect), so you just have to look at the Awesome and Atlas and the variants to the Dragon and Catapult that are more front line fighters. But I could see beta starting with these mechs. Small enough number for a controlled test yet big enough for alot of different matches.

Would Thin Mints work? I'd think that Samoas or Tagalongs would be the better bets. Thin Mints are for when you've gone through whichever cookie type is your favorite and still need a fix.
