Again, I don't think Belisarius and I were making serious proposals about how PGI should handle the timeline. I mostly lurked that thread (it was quite a popular one) but stayed out of it since I couldn't really come to an opinion on the matter.
Anyway, I think we're about ready to wrap this one up unless others come in here and decide they want to keep the

Ohh Yeah! lol In all honesty, I been following MWO since it was announced. Don't try the mind **** method on me. I know MWO is trying to stay as close as possible to BT. But the topic is not about that, but culture shock and who it affects. Got that Mr. TT guy who has no experience with league play from past MW games?

I have no idea what thread you're talking about. I simply think this one is insulting and stupid and annoying and I intend to post nonsensical crap in it until it disappears.

I'm pretty sure it's 100% fact that almost 92% of all people who played the MechWarrior video games have never, ever played the table-top game and it's pretty much a sure thing that nobody who played the BattleTech table top game where they played as Mech Warriors never ever played the video games.
I am absolutely, positively almost sure of this.

I am inclined to think this will be a serious culture shock to some.
I actually find it mildly amusing.
MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Microsoft did a poor job with their version of MW, and the game mechanics/physics etc. Weapon ranges, mech load outs, limitations. Terrain and many other variables that affect mech combat.
I can't but hope, that MWO will not go the way of MW4 and prove to be a challenging, fun and worth while investment of time and money. Love for the Battletech Universe and a tribute to that of which many of us love about this game and related material.
For the "crotch rocket" MW4 vets and cut their teeth there but never bothered to give a go and the previous versions...
We shall see.
Being a kid at the MW4 time, i diddnt get much choice over what games i could and could not play. My parents did get me MW2 by accident (it was in a bundle with Pitfall and some other game) and i was also lucky enough for them to buy me MW4.
Cant remember MW2 specificly :S but MW4 was kinda badly designed, in the terms that it was all about who could handle their coolant the best, and who could load out their heavy/assaults with the most weapons.
This laser toting madcat pilot knows that very well Tho i did enjoy smashing face like that, in the end the game did feel realy lacking, even now with the mektek additions, its still the same thing.
I for one will enjoy piloting the light mech in MWO very much, as it will feel like everythign the prior MW games were lacking (usefull light mechs in prior mw games ?? Blasphemy!! )

Turn based dice roll hex map game =/= Real time simulation with projectile/missile travel times and real time movement
Sorry, but the rules for taking your turn and doing your damage and movement all during the same turn don't translate well to a game where the other person is moving at the same time as you and you have to actually aim the weapons and wait for them to do damage.
Exactly, all this self righteous TT preaching is ridiculous. just because something IS one way does not mean it OUGHT to be that way here. That's the classic it ain't natural literal interpretation nonsense that leaves no room for rationality. who the hell really thinks people will experience "culture shock" once someone from MW4 sees the holly light that is TT. Its utter absurdity from people so invested in TT doctrine that the slightest objection threatens there self esteem, thus compelling them to create posts insulting the other group to make them feel better.

Yeah BT lore clans lost. But you can not see what we are saying. MWO is not BT lore, or TT for that matter. It is an online competitive game. Dice or lore has no play here.
We would hands down.
Except for the part wher PGI has said that Lore DOES matter and that they are going to be following TT if at all able to.
So, you're kinda of wrong. Dice may not have any play here but Lore sure as hell does.

It doesn't matter what this game throws at us, we'll (we being HFH if we get back together) still be one of the top teams in this game same was we were back in Mercs.
I don't even know what "TT" means, but I'll guarantee I'll be a better player than the OP after all his dice throwing experience

Funny, you see it as self righteous TT preaching and I see it as people trying to keep the game as close to the source material as possible. And obviously, PGI thinks the same was as they've stated that they're going to follow TT rues is at all possible.
You also seem to be ignoring the self righteous preaching of the MW4 hardcore, epeen stroking crowd that seems to go as much out of their way to bash the TT crowd as the TT crowd goes to bashing them.
I think the culture shock being talked about is the fact that, from my understanding, the everything used in MW4 is so far from the source material that when those same Mechwarriors ('cause face it, we're ALL mechwarriors otherwise, we wouldn't be here) jump into an MWO Mech they're not going to get the type of performance they're use to from that same mech in MW4. Has noting to do with the "holy light that is TT".
You also didn't hesitant to jump on the insult bandwagon when said TT gamer insulted your MW4 manhood so i hope it made you feel better.

I didn't realize this thread was about people bragging about being league players and claiming that they're better than everybody else on the planet.

Dude, I’m clearly just messing with you at this point.
The reality is that all the top-tier league vets were in college during their golden years and traded large chunks of their lives to be as good as they were. Most of those players now have families and jobs and won’t be able to put in anywhere near the time they did. They’ll be smart, they’ll know each other extremely well and they'll remember how to move and shoot. That’s going to give them a huge advantage over someone who’s only played singleplayer and TT, whether you agree or not.
Unfortunately, the cold, hard reality is that all of us are going to die to the next generation of college students with time to burn and sharp minds looking to chew on anything but their studies. Most of those guys won't even know MWO exists yet.
