back with updates, sorry for not repling sooner

ive ditched the bulldozer, being un-optimized to run in windows7
and being unstable in windows8 due power management/saving silliness its a dead end imo.
this leaves me with the 1045thuban now running @ 3.6ghz

the newest patch seems to have smoothed out the hard dips that had been occuring during play
to clarify, med-high, is not medium to high, but medium AND high, i see no frame rate changes
when changing from medium to high in either 1080p or 3456x2048

windows7 test
1045T+7950(880/1250) 45-60 frames @med/high settings @1080p, 25-35 med/high @ 3456x2048
1045T+7950(900/1250) 45-66 frames @med/high settings @1080p, 27-37 med/high @ 3456x2048
1045T+crossfire computer shuts off, draws a max of 878 watts, powersupply is a 1k silverstone

windows8
1045T+7950(880/1250) 45-66 frames @med/high settings @1080p, 27-37 med/high @ 3456x2048
1045T+7950(900/1250) 45-68 frames @med/high settings @1080p, 29-43 med/high @ 3456x2048
1045T+crossfire comptuer shuts off, """""

the higher oc of the thuban seems to have helped a bit along with the patch, though nothing is mentioned in the patch about graphics..*shrugs* ill take it
i cant explain the jump in frames from windows7 to 8 , currently researching as to why, and by NO means am I in either camp...I use what works best

in the next week ill own a dual boot powersupply adapter and will test GazT4R's suggestion for xfire

@ Sen, more i think about it, you might be in the same boat once xfire works, a single 1k ps will not cut it
ive done a bit of research on your cpu, you should draw about 50-100+ watts more than i,
thats not counting water cooling or amount of fans/harddrives either so i redact not needing a more powerful power supply

@repete, rule of thumb for eyeinfinity is every 1080p monitor to run at med settings 1 gig of video card ram is needed
being close with 1050 monitors i would keep that in mind, the 7970 is a beast, in 2 weeks ill be able to test 3 of em ^^

@krazypoloc, thank you seems the nvidia guys keep out pacing we who use ati.....and please update! yeah i dont think sli/crossfire work except in certain circumstances....and i would be concerned with over drawing a powersupply with 3 cards. about your FOV, my friend runs 5x1+1 1920x1080 in portrait and i can tell you 100-105 seems to be about the max useful, i would suggest portrait mode for those beasties to help eliminate fisheye
besides 8020x1440 seems insanely wide.....4320x2560 seems more manageable, and with 105fov itll look sweet!

tl;dr...WOOT! framerate increases! and nuking power supplies!

Which Silverstone model? The only reason for this would be a rail being overloaded.

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817256057

i should clarify this a bit, if the thuban is oc'd beyond 3.2ghz and xfire'd
thats when it specifically turns off under load
watts were test via |vom| and the onboard panel for it

haha! yea probably I was ok till that second 7950...XD

imo silverstone is the best powersupply i have ever owned..
that and its the only one to survive 3+years of usage
ive eaten several antec's/ozc's/rosewill's/ a seasonic/pcpower/ a fsp
however i havent tried some of the newer ones, if its not broke dont fix it mentality

It SHOULD be. . . I have my computer on a UPS that has an active screen monitor. Even with everything clocked up,I have yet to draw more than about 690w @ full load. I'm not just talking MwO either. . . Far Cry 3 same story. At this point it all comes down to PGI and waiting for proper Xfire support. On the bright side, Mrs. Evil Claus brought Ol' Senny a nice 27" 2560 x 1440 IPS screen for Xmas, which takes SOME of the sting out of the whole thing :P

It's a single rail 80A 12V rail, it should power that system perfectly fine.

@ sen XD nice, interesting to hear that it draws only 690w @ load,
though i havent owned a intel system since p4..might have to switch in the near future

@ dvmckenna thoughts then? because i am at a loss
its out of warranty, shows no symptoms/smells of anything broken/not working like the others have

it should power that system

should

If you're sure you've got all the power connectors firmly connected, have the aux power for the MOBO PCI-E connected [just to rule it out of the equasion] and you are 100% positive it is not a heat generated issue, The next step WOULD be to try a new PSU and see if you still have the problem.

Normally I'd suggest picking up the biggest one you can from any brick and mortar retailer, that way if it doesn't fix the problem you can always return it and get your money back. The question becomes "do you have any place brick and mortar nearbly that carries something of decent quality that's 1k Watts or higher"?

The other possibility is trying to obtain a power supply tester [or find a shop that can test it for you].

At least that way you'll KNOW whether or not it's actually the PSU.

To add to the fray
6060 x 1080 bezel adjusted. ~30 fps on all LOW settings...
PC specs--
Crossfired 6870's running at stock XFX clocks (940/1150)
AMD 8350 at stock clocks (4.2)
Windows 7.
Newest Beta drivers for the video cards.
3 x Asus VS238H-P +1 side monitor (not for gaming) thats some sort of Acer (not really relevant)
1000 watt Thermaltake PSU.
16gb 1600Mhz ram.
Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB SSD
1TB 7200 RPM Storage HDD.
Asus Sabertooth 990+ Mobo
Noctua CPU Air-cooler (Can't remember the model)
Coolermaster HAF Full sized case (No idea model)

Really REALLY surprised that I get only ~30 fps dropping into the high teens when in a firefight with this setup. Yes I'm aware I need to upgrade video cards. Hopefully can get enough tax money back to crossfire 7970's (which should drop in price with the 8xxx series coming out ~April-ish. Guess I'll just hope that AMD spends some time on this game as I'm sure they haven't optimized for it whatsoever and thats what's causing the low fps. I could understand that on high settings, but on low with AA turned off, I'm literally bottoming out the game's video and getting a mere 30 fps. Rant off.

3770K @ 4.8
16gb ram
2x 670 FTW 4gb
6080x1080 max settings

25~35 fps on avg... sometimes higher, sometimes lower but usually hovers around 30 like everyone else.

im one of those that see 99% utilization on both GPUs but probably zero performance gain... on the same boat to wait for real sli/xfire support :/

There is supposed to be a way to apply Bioshock profile or The Secret World profile to Mwoclient.exe to increase FPS in Xfire, but I have no idea how to actually access the profiles in the first place [I always thought those were determined automatically, and CCC won't let me manually open anything] Several people have claimed 10-15 FPS more, which would make 3 screen eyefinity viable to the majority of us who are sitting at 25-35 FPS.

If anyone has step by step instructions, I'd love to see them :)

update*

cata 13.1 with latest patch of mwo, fov@105

1045T+7950(880/1250) 22-27 frames @veryhigh settings @ 3456x2048
1045T+7950(900/1250) 24-32 frames @veryhigh settings @ 3456x2048
1045T+7950(880/1250) 22-27 frames @veryhigh settings @ 3240x1920
1045T+7950(900/1250) 24-32 frames @veryhigh settings @ 3240x1920
1045T+7970(1050/1500) 27-35 frames @ veryhigh settings @ 3240x1920

note no change in fps, despite testing at a lower resolution
testing fov@90 proved a 5 frame increase over fov@105

interesting to note, playing on low/medium settings
results in 15-20fps all the time
no matter which card and at both 3456x2048 and 3240x1920 rez

tested GazT4R's suggestion for xfire,
and crysis3/the secret world/ bioshock profiles, with 5870's/7950's/7970's
these proved unfruitful.

side notes, tested powersupply, it is ok.
likely cause of the overdraw are the 6x120mm delta fans when maxed...
turned all but 2 off, and now no shutting off, amazing how simple that was...

@iceman hmm i would play the wait and see game before picking up a new card
hopefully win7 gets patched to fix the scheduler for the amd new cpu's,
i fought long and hard to have win7 use the "full cores" for major applications
and gave up as it would always end up turning off 2 of those cores in favor of running
the "half cores".

@silpherK interesting, take heart, as it seems the extra vidcard ram is helping out
