Silly question, but just installed 2 srm2s on my awe. Do these lock on, or are the fire and forget?
I tried locking onto a target, and got nothing.

They are dumb fire missiles. So just click and missiles should go out towards your crosshairs. Did you put ammo for those?

I think what you want are SSrm2s. SSRM2s lock on, SRM2s don't.

SRM-2s work really well when you remove them, free up a half ton, and replace them with SSRM-2s.

And remove that SRM ammo for Streak SRM ammo.

Seriously, it's generally MUCH more worth it to mount a Streak vs a standard SRM 2. You'll end up actually hitting far more often.

SRM2s are one of several "gotcha" weapons that have no actual use. Either get a bigger launcher or switch to Streaks.

I concur. Find 1/2 a ton and get a streak, or a whole ton and get a SRM4.
Both take up one crit.
The SRM 4 does twice the damage, but is dumb-fire.
The Streaks lock to the torso and don't fire without a lock, thus saving ammo.
Though personally i think that the torso locking will be changed if PGI keep to their mandate of keeping as close to canon and the TT as possible. They've shown scant deviance from this so far.

The point still remains, if you can find a 1/2 ton or a whole ton, get a Streak or a SRM4.
If you can't spare the weight, get a med laser and a heat sink.
Or 2 small lasers and a heat sink.
Or two MG's and some ammo...
Anything but the SRM.

Uh, for the record, SRM2s definitely have their place. Streaks are nice, but when riding in a Light, I don't always to stick around for a lock. Also, being able to twitch-fire is super handy.

SRM ammo also cost half as much as SSRM. So if you want to keep rearm cost down it is worth considerent. On the flip side, considering how ineffective they are, you might as well just not use em and cut your repair cost even more.
