They should have just left double at 2.0 and buffed the regular up to even out the gap(ie 1.5). Because with it this way, regardless of what doubles are at, the Trial Mechs are trash due to insufficient cooling. Singles are utter trash and shouldn't be used on any Mech, which I don't anymore. I won't even use a new ride until I pay that 1.5M fee for doubles then fix it up. I have around 60 singles in the bank doing nothing because all I do with them is yank them off of Mechs right after I get them. I'm never going to use them. There's no reason to. Doubles are better. Ya, I can't slot them in my head/chest/legs, but who cares? My Endo Steel has to go somewhere, so let it take those runt slots. There's no reason to have singles. If they were buffed some, maybe things would be different due to slot restrictions. But they aren't. Singles=useless, and you're handicapping yourself by having them on your Mech. They nerfed doubles down when they should have buffed singles up, but instead we let Trials take one for the team.
Trial mechs are in a poor spot because RoF is much too high on all weapons.
High RoF makes having multiple weapons worthless. Why have 2 PPCs and fire alternately when you get have 1 and fire it constantly, other than for the alpha strike? This is also why large weapons with high heat is terrible compared with small heat efficient weapons. Those small weapons can fire so fast along with being heat efficient.
I think a combination of making DHS the same across the inside/outside engine, lower capacity to 1.0 for DHS, and ~50% the RoF (~2x CD) for all weapons across the board.
Make heat from weapons increase across the CD of the weapon instead of only when it is firing. Implement the other heat penalties (slowing movement, slowing arm/torso movement).
All of the above should fix the issues of heat and the balance between trials and custom mechs.
