Either PGI doesnt understand the US dollar vs the canadian or this is just a Rich Mans game made by a private company in a socialist country. Which doesnt make a lick of sense.

Lower prices on paint/camo/items and we will buy more and use the remaining MC o buy mechs/prem time.

I think the prices are high as well and the margin should be reduced in an effort to increase the quanity of sales. I also beleive that we as a group of people who want this game (and the company behind it) to be a success should call out these type of issues. That said PGI can certainly set the price to what ever they want, but I would be interested to see how sales are influenced with price differences. Of course if they lower the price now, than anyone who purhcased some already would scream for a refund, so any adjustments might have to come with the next batch.

The Canadian Looney is .99 against the U.S. Dollar. If you're going to complain about something (and we agree on the steep pricing) then don't insult the United States' #1 trade partner with ignorant and mean-spirited remarks.

I am sure PGI will watch and see how much they sell and adjust prices as needed.

I noticed the new hood ornaments in the Mechlab for this Christmas holiday season and noticed 4 ornaments in there, one called an "XMAS" tree and one called an "XMAS" elf, XMAS wreath and XMAS lights. Now the last time I checked, the only holiday in December that those could refer to is CHRISTMAS.

I am a Christian and am very offended when people "X" Christ out of Christmas. "But it's just an acronym" but no one ever writes it CHRISTX, always XMAS crossing out the most important name in the holiday word.

For those of you who need an education, Christmas is a religious holiday, where people all over the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, God's gift to mankind. I am a Christian, not an Xian, I celebrate Christmas, not Xmas. "CHRISTMAS" is the name of the holiday that falls on Dec. 25th, not "XMAS." It's like taking the "THANKS" out of Thanksgiving or the "NEW" out of New Years. "Xgiving" "Xyears" etc.

The name of the holiday or "holy day" is Christmas, and we need to use the proper name.

The last time I checked Christmas was originally a pagan holiday. Now it's celebrated as a Pagan, Secular and Christian holiday.

Plenty of Christians do not celebrate Christmas nor do they recognize it as the day of Jesus' birth.

Finally, this is MWO... it is not the place for your religious outrage over a holiday that means many different things to different people all over the world.

not buying any of this crap, or hero mechs, at these prices

if i were going to buy anything, it would be a paint job. bobbleheads are sort of pointless to me. if anything i would prefer cockpit customization to anything else, ie different layouts or lighting schemes or whatever

but i'm not paying $4 or $5 for a lump of coal. that's just ********

as feldor just said, the main reason people buy imaginary swag in a video game is to show off. **** pit items aren't what most of us are looking for

people would be more likely to pay for different jump jet colors or different laser effects or whatever, than pay for something only dead hitch hikers can see. defeats the purpose of swag to hide it from most of the people you're playing with

Great idea, but WAY too expensive. 1,250 MC to string some lights around the cockpit window? Nah, I'll buy the real ones for less $$$ and tape them to my iMac. Same effect, more beer for me! (Now, if they were 60-300 MC, we could talk.)

What gets me is that they seem to put more effort into making seasonal items then making more maps. I dont count Forest Colony Snow or Ice City ay night new maps. they just touched up an existing (TINY) map. I am disappointed at where they focus their resources.

There is no excuse why they cant make more (AND BIGGER) maps in timely manor.

i think some of these items are great fun but your pricing me out of the market. i'd quite like the santa atlas for e.g. but for 1k i'm not even temped to use my founders credits.

i paid $120 (iirc) for a game that wasn't even in closed beta and yet i feel 1k for a little something i'd quite like is too much, even when i've already paid....if you follow my meaning

also the whole pricing thing seems skewed. a Gauss cannon costs 600k cb a paint job costs 1m cb (equivalent) is painting lost tech? or do we perhaps need to break the painters union?

i'm willing to pay good money for time savers, like xp boosts, or hero mechs tho i haven't yet but i could probably throw away more money on fluff if i perceived it as cheap and if i did that i'd probably have to top up my MC's to buy something big when the time comes. right now i have 20k to spend and no real desire to do so.

I don't think boutique pricing is a great idea when you can't provide a boutique atmosphere.

The game is still so rough, and will obviously continue to be rough for a long, long, time. At the point where we're playing the "Cadillac of online games", then it will, perhaps, be more reasonable to charge $22 for a mech, and $7 for Christmas lights. Right now it just seems a little greedy and weird. You're basically asking us all to continue crowdfunding development with this stuff, you could at least try to be as nice as possible about it. You guys don't like how negative and intense the forums can be, but have you ever asked yourselves what you could do to foster goodwill and a sense of community around here? Little things like this go a long way towards setting the tone in these kinds of relationships.

Attempting to include as many people as possible in fun stuff, rather than vying to milk as much as possible from a few people, seems like a much better business plan, assuming you want MechWarrior Online to maintain a robust player base for years to come.

All that said, I bought, and really like, the Christmas lights, and the little tree. Personally, I'm just try balance the various factors involved - things I think are cool, my desire to continue supporting your development process, and my deeply felt reservations about rewarding people for bad behavior.

I'm pretty much with most of the people around here. The pricing here is absurd, everything in the game really feels a bit too pricey (or at least we don't get nearly enough MC for the money) and this is coming from someone who did drop $120 on a beta.

I would like the Christmas lights and all, but 1,250MC and then having to manually remove it from one mech to place it in another is both ridiculous and tiresome. I can understand it with engines and other equipment, but accessories like these should be automatically available across all mechs once purchased. And as everyone else is stressing, the pricing for these items is much too high to make sense. I have still more than half my MC remaining but a huge chunk of it has been only on Mech Bays as those are the only things I truly need. Everything else is way too expensive to be reasonable, while the paint system I'd been looking forward to turned out to be something designed rather greedily.

I find it simply irritating how they actually manage to continously ignore all economic findings of recent years regarding F2P games. The pricing so far, be it for vanity items or private fluff stuff, shows an immense level of either greed, complacency or incompetence and neither choice seems nice.

It seems they are completely focussed on getting 10$ from one guy, instead of getting 1$ from 20 guys. Doesn't make any sense.

Do you happen to have specific studies in mind? This sounds very right to me, but every F2P game I have played has done this. Some examples (last I played them): World of Tanks, Super Monday Night Combat, Eve, Champions Online, or even the XBox store. All this feels at odds with things like phone apps or MP3s.

One thing games tend to do is use company script (MC in this case), unlike say iTunes or Amazon who will let you buy just one thing for say 50 cents (say in the US). It is certainly true that most companies still use an economic model where it is better to get 2 dollars from you today they it is to try and get 1 dollar in 3 days. Value meals at fast food places being a prime example.

All that said, I for one would spend a lot more on F2P games if they used the low price high volume model. Specifically, my mech would have some x-mass lights for certain, might even get more then one to be lazy.

If these things were $2-3 bucks i'd be spending money like an *****. I'm not paying for $6 for it.

Also when did mech bays go from 250 to 300 mc? I know PGI needs to make money, but i think smaller costs will make more people think less and just purchase stuff.

I think its telling, to date Christmas item wise, I've seen one item so far. a single commando bobble head.

Im a massive addict with 14 mechs including the yen lo wang and yes at some point the new one too, but 1250mc for christmas lights that I can only fit to one mech at a time? Even I say no to that.

I was really excited about them too, until I saw the price :)

Seriously I would have bought them at 250, easy might even have at least considered them at 1250 if I could equip as much as I liked. Although probably not, I still dont have a dragon or a cicada in my bay yet...

See, I wouldn't mind external swag effects, but I'm not looking to show off to anyone. I love my cockpit swag, because I get to look at it...

Unfortunately, the longer they wait, the less likely we are to support them when they actually do give us the grudging price cut.
