Forgive me if this thread belongs to another place, but I'm too frusted too look around right now.

Any server I try to connect to and error pops up saying EXACTLY this:

"Error Can not join the selcted game. There may be networking problems or the server may be gone"

I have tried to connect to many (as in tens of) servers at different days of the week. All return with said error. Maybe my google skills fail me, but all I have found was to port forward which I have already done and I still can't connect!

TL;DR: Here is what's going on in the following video:

Help! I wish to know how to fix it.

*Edit: Just one more detail, this problem is supposedly fixed running this game on windows 7 home premium, which is also what I have. Yet the problem persists.

Try Mektek.net's forum. MekMatch is their hosting server. They have ALL the info you need for MW4Mercs. You have to make sure all the right ports are open to your PCs static ip and upnp is either enabled or disabled depending on which works for your router.

Good luck.

I have become somewhat of a novice master with MW:4 because of all the problems it has. :P

The problem you are having is caused by your modem not allowing certain codes through.
I haven't done this in a year, so I'm not remembering ALL of the details but here is what I can provide.

You first need to bring up the command prompt by running "cmd" in the run bar of the start menu.
When in the command prompt, find your default modem gateway by typing "ipconfig" (without the "s)
Then copy your Default Gateway and bring up your web browser of choice.
Paste your default gateway in the IP bar and press enter. This will then bring you to your modem's menu.
Log into your modem using your account info for said modem.
Once into your modem, go to something to the effect of "Advanced Settings" and you should see a "Universal Plug And Play." (UPNP for short)
Check that box. Save the changes. Close the web browser, and go turn off your modem for 20-30 seconds, then turn it back on.
Bring up MW4 and see if it works!

(If this doesn't work, there IS one other solution, but I can't remember it right now. T__T)

MM hate to say this but its not the modem unless you have a combination modem router. Of all the case we run into its the router, every so often it is a firewall program. If you dont have a router then its the firewall and you can tell that by turning the firewall or firewalls off then seeing if you can connect.
.... I dont have the will or time to type out how to open ports in routers. Its not hard but some routers do things slightly different than others. generally you will have to connect to your router and tell it to keep certain ports open usually through a browser. If you never set up your router most likely its manual will be online.

Due to updates in Direct X technologies, you need to open the following ports (These are the direct x 9 ports + mechwarrior ports)

TCP: 2300-2400
27999-28912
47624-47625

UDP
6073
47624-47625
2300-2400

So have to have two ports, one for TCP and one for UDP? The portforward page only asks for starting port and ending port, I don't know where to put those other numbers.

Your router software that you access via a browser (most of the time) might give you the option to create a "Profile" for MW4.

The Starting and ending ports to enter would be like the following:
TCP
2300-2400 [Start=2300 & End=2400]
47624-47625 [Start=47624 & End=47625]

UDP
6073 [This will be the Start & Finish number]
etc.

As mentioned in an above post, each router is different so you will need to figoure out your own routers method of configuration.

Another thing to keep in mind is where you may need to enter your own local IP, to assign to the profile your creating. This may change if you do not have static IP.

Sorry if that sound vague, but your router is the unknown quantity that you have to figure out. But once you have the ports open, you will be able to connect.

Good luck. ;)

^^^^^ That's the other one. I couldn't remember it. ;)
I got the same message when I first got the MW4 MekTek free version. Had to do both steps to get to work. :D

What version do you have (hit connect, then look at the upper right corner of the screen) Most people have .0028, .0029, .0030

If you can't fix it after doing what is said above, PM me and i can walk you through it.

As for GameRanger, we use both, and I recommend it, as there's a different crowd playing on both and its good to get in games against various opponents (though I think there's slightly more playing on the mektek mekmatch).

Yah you need to do different stuff to your router.

http://www.netbattle...c.php?f=10&t=62

What router do you have? Make sure if its going to your computer, that you use the computer name, in case your ip addy changes. And make sure you have UDP and TCP ports own where applicable. Its hard to tell from what you provided. Lastly, double check to ensure that they are actually activated.

I have the crappy netgear router. If this helps, it's the WGR614 version 6 model, a wireless router. I also have entered in the data everyone recomends for appropriate ports, but now that you mention it how to activate them?

I have the same issue!

EDIT: Are you connecting to other .0030 servers? You also need to put in the IP of the server.
