If I'm in thermal vision i see some nice pulse waves gliding over the ground. I think the center of these is allways me. Recently we puzzle about the meaning and cause of this effect.

We guess this was supposed to be in fact some indicator for enemy ECM. If this right it is bug that the center is allways me and not the enemy with ECM.

Pls give some explanation for this. By the way, it really looks nice.

I noticed this as well. I thought maybe it was a new radar effect that we were not told about. Cool effect anyway.

Im not sure Im understanding...but if you are in thermal vision, wouldnt a significant source of thermal energy be from your own mech...and since that thermal radiation is so close, wouldnt you have more fidelity in perceiving the subtle variations in heat as it comes off, hence the pulsing?

Read it and really dont know what u mean. Pls give me the passage.

@CocoaJin:

it looks like an exploding perfect sphere. heat would heat the stationary air making the impuls to scattering cloud, isnt it? looks like an electronmagnetic impulse at longwave infrared range?! (whoohoo scifi-sciolism)

Hmmm, longwave/infra-red...that would be going toward radio waves right?...perhaps its detecting radar emissions?

this could be the answer.

a pitty - no ecm radio emission detection with thermal sight. *twinkle to the devs*

could you point out where in the notes this is covered?

Saw it on a mech with no ECM, seems to be bugged whatever it is.

I'd assume it would more or less look the same...the stuff thats doing the jamming isnt necessarily anything special or different from what its intended to jam. One method of jamming only requires you flood the area with a broad-spectrum, incoherent emmisions, or cater it to the sensors you desire to jam. In terms of the amount of energy emitted for thermal detection, (if my understanding is correct) you can use 1/4 the target's power output and effectivly blind them from their max sensor range, or use their full output and blind them from double the target's max sensor range.

Or you can create an ionized bubble around you and essentially have an EM sensor cloak(like in game)...but this kind of ECM and the broad spectrum jamming should affect friends, foes and self.
