Learn to adapt. Use your team as your advantage. Don't just run with all LRMs.

You cannot adapt when there is no team, and MWO is built upon the concept of the PUG. I say this with complete confidence as there is absolutely no design nor plans in the game to allow players to find and form teams outside the battle. This activity is left for outside programs and external organizations, and so is not part of the game (the devs have certainly proven this by removing any weapons that require teamwork in favor of individual shooter weapons).

So, your claim to 'use your team' is at best ignorant, and at worst contemptable. Especially when it is combined with a simple 'just don't use the weapons your mech was designed to' comment that is the hight of arrogance. Go play an LRM fire support unit in a PUG with the current environment, and come talk to me then.

I bought a CPLT A1 about 3 days ago, tried the streakcat and honestly I wasn't that great with it, I did far far better on my K2 using 4 ML and an AC20 or a Gauss. Today was the first time I tried 2 LRM15s and 2 SRM6s on it, I was getting between 2-4 kills most matches and topping charts for damage for a lot of maps. If it's this easy with people using ECMs I can't imagine how easy mode it was before.

Well, you should try the C4 then. It has 4 missile slots AND 2 laser slots, so by the cost of some ammo or armor you can still carry some lasers in case you loose the ears/ammo.

When you run a smackapult--timing and location are KEY. Sitting back and poking doesn't work, you need to flank/suprise, hide. Running 2 AC20s is 10 dps. If you miss a shot....5dps. Unless someone has an aweful build it is pretty hard to not out dps the build so you can't sit where you can get shot, you have to know who is where, where to go and what to do.

I didn't know that the K2 with 2 AC20s was owning the battlefield? It is generally hit or miss with how games go.

If you fail to see how this playstyle has been killed--you weren't using everything to your full advantage before, and are failing to realize how much the game is changed with ECMs implemented.

Someone obviously hasnt played a support boat before.

Cause I can tell you, it is ever so much fun having a couple of atlas' in your line of sight about 400 meters off and being unable to lock them at all.

There is a difference between complaining because you cant own everything and complaining because you cant do jack ****. Please learn the difference between those two.

If you can't lock it means your using LRMs and you are not working with your team and your team isn't helping you. If your saying you can't do jack sugar to it then you need secondary weapons. FYI.

I personally hate this argument myself - but this is still beta. Meaning the game isn't even finished. A good chunk of content and features aren't even implemented yet. I would imagine you would have the same argument when those come in.

And FYI I played an LRM boat for majority of closed beta. Meaning MONTHS.

you would rather fight a streak cat than against something that has no effect on direct fire weapons?

It isn't the weapon change it is the gameplay change that is the issue. I was REALLY excited for the ECM implementation...until I played and realized how aweful it is to play with. It causes more problems then it fixes, especially for PUGs.

You are essentially pigeon holed into the 4 mechs that can run the ECM otherwise you are at a HUGE disadvantage, because you essentially lose your ability to 'map' any targets if you don't have it.

I've play 4 matchs with my twin lrm-15 artemis Awesome and finished in the top 2 and first in all ecm matchs. Even killed an Atlas DC-ecm also. All is fine just adapt a bit, the game is more fun now.

I always work with my team, generally hollowing the front lines about 600 meters back so I can fire on mechs they target and engage with decent success, but isnt it ever so fun when the mech you are supporting gets blaped and when their ECM goes down, GASP you cant lock anymore and the enemy can just saunter up and smack you right in the face.

And as a Cat a pair of medium/small lasers isnt going to help all that much when you have an angry heavy/assault bearing down on you to beat your brains in when you cant even target him to find where his armor has been weakened

I seriously hope whoever thought this version of ECM was a good idea gets canned
