So I've been having trouble with the audio bug in the new patch and I was wondering if I could force the game to output stereo audio.

You see, I have a Logitech G35, which can do Stereo, 5.1, and 7.1, but can only show as 7.1 to the computer. If the audio is stereo I play normally. If it's 5.1/7.1 I can use a switch and make the headphones surround. The problem is that MWO detects the headset as 7.1 and outputs accordingly. Is there anyway around this?

Try this:

Start
Control Panel
Hardware and Sound
Sound
You should see headset here, click it, click configure, select stereo.

You can try that, might work, mwo isnt "forcing" 7.1 sound, its simply reading what windows is telling it, and windows is telling it this is a 7.1 setup. I believe these headphones are suppouse to have some sort of software insatlled as well, there may be an option there to change the surround mode as well

I can't select Stereo, the only option is 7.1. It's a technicality with this headset that I'm not fond of.

I'm having the same issue with my g930. Every time a laser goes off, it sounds like the levels are being blown. There doesn't seem to be any way to change the surround mode.

I'm having the same problem. I have the logitech headset and windows only lets me select 7.1 surround. I'm extatic the lag was fixed but now my ears are being sliced open each time a laser weapon is fired. I'm pretty sure their aware of the new problem since they posted in the new patch notes 7.1 audio is not supported. I just hope it gets fixed soon since I have to either play with the game muted or not play at all.

G35 user here with the same problem. The only alternative is to have the sound come through the normal speakers while using my headset for Teamspeak. It is not a very viable option and I like the pewpew sound too much. As sad as it is to say, I will probably just hold off playing until they fix it.

it's not worth it. I got stereo headphones myself and I still have the audio crackle and stutter. Don't uninstall your logitech software for nothing!

G35 user here too. This is sooooo frustrating! I'm not uninstalling the Logitech software because I'm using a g13 gamepad too.

Folks, there is a work-around for this problem posted elsewhere in the forums. I use a Logitech G930 headset also, and this stopped the laser fart noise.

In your headset configuration software, there is a section for setting the individual volumes of each of the "speakers". Set the left-most one to zero.
